Lemonade Day Welcomes New Leadership
Lemonade Day, a national nonprofit dedicated to empowering youth through entrepreneurship, has recently announced the appointment of
Elizabeth Ramasamy as its new Chief Executive Officer. With a mission to equip today’s youth to become the entrepreneurs of tomorrow, Ramasamy's appointment marks a pivotal moment for the organization, which has already impacted over 1.5 million kids across North America since its founding in 2006.
Ramasamy brings over a decade of experience in transformative leadership, particularly as a top-ranked Business Results Trainer and Mentor Coach at Robbins Research International. Known for her strategic insight and operational excellence, she has worked closely with leaders globally, focusing on sustainable change and driving returns on investment in complex environments. Reflecting on her new role, Ramasamy expressed, "I am thrilled to join Lemonade Day at this pivotal moment in the organization's growth. My vision is to scale the organization’s impact, stimulating global economic growth through small business." She emphasizes that beyond simply teaching kids to operate lemonade stands, Lemonade Day is about fostering an entrepreneurial mindset in youth, encouraging them to create their futures amid an evolving job landscape.
Under her leadership, the organization plans to expand its footprint, enhancing its core mission of imparting valuable life skills, financial literacy, and leadership training to young people. Joe Daly, Chairman of the Board, is confident in Ramasamy’s abilities, stating, "Elizabeth brings the kind of leadership and global experience that will help take Lemonade Day forward. She has a proven record of growing organizations and a real passion for helping young people succeed."
Ramasamy steps into her position at a time of significant momentum for Lemonade Day. The organization has witnessed remarkable growth, moving from serving 2,700 children in Houston in 2007 to reaching an astounding 1.5 million young aspiring entrepreneurs today. With strategic initiatives underway, such as partnerships with the Charles Stewart Mott Foundation and new marketing efforts across the Pacific Northwest, the organization is poised for further expansion.
One of the recent pivotal developments has been the successful pilot program launched in Omaha, which has already attracted additional funding for continued growth. Ramasamy pointed out, "These recent achievements demonstrate the strong foundation we have to build upon. With strategic partnerships, proven programming, and expanding community support, we are well-positioned to help spark even more young entrepreneurs who will create lasting impact in communities."
Lemonade Day operates in more than 90 licensed markets, dedicated to teaching essential business skills and fostering an entrepreneurial mindset among youths in grades K–8. Through its experiential entrepreneurship program, they have facilitated over $352 million in sales and generated significant profits, with a notable portion reinvested into communities.
In this exciting new chapter, Ramasamy is committed to not just scaling Lemonade Day’s reach but also deepening its impact within existing communities, ensuring that the next generation is not only ready for the challenges of entrepreneurship but thrives because of it.
