New Musical 'The 100-Year Era' Makes Its Debut
The LLC Art&Arts is set to unveil a brand new musical titled
'The 100-Year Era', scripted and directed by Soichiro Yamazaki, who is also known for being the author of the best-selling book
'Kodomo Roppou'. This exciting production will premiere on
June 20, 2025, at the Scale Music Salon, located in Itabashi Ward, Tokyo. The musical addresses significant modern dilemmas by exploring a world where the technique to halt aging has become a reality, prompting audiences to confront the pivotal question:
What are the choices we make towards a long and happy life? Putting emphasis on thoughtful decisions and societal implications, this production promises an intimate experience with only
20 seats available for each performance.
What the Musical is About
In recent research, it has been estimated that half of the children born in Japan in 2007 are projected to live beyond 107 years, marking Japan as one of the longest-living societies globally. This brings to the forefront pressing matters such as the
'2000 million yen retirement issue' and the initiative for a
'100-Year Life Era.' As advancements in medicine make living a century increasingly realistic, today’s youth are confronted with unprecedented challenges related to longevity, such as the question of how to engage with life meaningfully as they age.
The theme of 'The 100-Year Era' interrogates whether healthy longevity guarantees a fulfilling life and how individuals can navigate their personal choices to ensure richness in life. Following in the footsteps of the previous musical,
'AI-WRI-EN,' this production will continue the trend of exclusivity by being staged in a limited capacity where only three performers take the spotlight at the Scale Music Salon.
Digest Videos and Musical Highlights
The making-of production took place from
February 28 to March 2, 2025, and a digest video capturing its essence is available on YouTube, providing a glimpse into the atmosphere of the show.

Fans can expect beautifully arranged songs like
'Kawanaka no Iwa,' where characters reflect on their lives amid the parallel of
'rock in the river,' symbolizing their chosen paths. The harmonious collaboration of the singers delivers a breathtaking experience that resonates deeply with the audience.
