SilverVox Film & Music Festival Unveils Landmark Documentary
The much-anticipated inaugural SilverVox Film & Music Festival has officially announced a major highlight:
Strange Journey: The Story of Rocky Horror. This feature-length documentary film, which made its debut at the
2025 South by Southwest, will take center stage during the festival scheduled from
June 18 to June 21, 2026.
Collaborating with
Magenta Light Studios, the festival aims to honor the cultural phenomenon surrounding
The Rocky Horror Show. This arrangement marks a significant partnership, as Magenta is helmed by
Oscar-winning producer Bob Yari. The documentary promises a deep dive into the legacy of the iconic musical, delving into its evolution and lasting impact on theater and film.
In an exciting addition, the screening will feature live Q&A with filmmaker
Linus O’Brien, the son of the original creator
Richard O’Brien. This element adds a personal touch, connecting the audience with the history and evolution of
Rocky Horror. After the documentary, attendees will be treated to a special screening of
The Rocky Horror Picture Show, rounding out a night celebrating this enduring classic.
"We are elated to partner with SilverVox to present this comprehensive look at a cultural phenomenon in Frederick," said Bill Vergos, Head of Digital Film Distribution at Magenta Light Studios. "Strange Journey embodies the spirit of independent storytelling that this festival seeks to celebrate."
A Festival with Purpose
The SilverVox Film Festival aims to offer a
meaningful platform for creative expression. In its first year, the festival has garnered over
200 film submissions from across the globe, emphasizing the strong interest in independent films that challenge conventional narratives.
“
Rocky Horror represents a beautiful intersection of daring storytelling and vibrant music,” remarked Linus O'Brien. “I can’t think of a more fitting venue for
Strange Journey than the SilverVox Film & Music Festival, where we can share not only my father’s legacy but the welcoming community it has built.”
Additionally, SilverVox is designed to foster dialogue among artists and industry professionals, featuring various panels on topics like
"How to Strike Deals with Netflix" and
"The AI Authorship Crisis". This multi-faceted approach aims to create a rich environment for both creators and audiences alike.
“Our mission was to create a festival that offers transparent dialogues,” stated Carrie Delente, Board Chair of SilverVox. “Hosting a marquee screening like Strange Journey alongside critical industry discussions shows that Frederick is evolving into a significant hub for the future of entertainment.”
