In a groundbreaking move for motorcycle safety, CHIGEE has announced its latest innovation: the SR-1, a state-of-the-art radar system specifically designed for motorcyclists. This advanced 77 GHz automotive-grade radar technology aims to provide riders with a higher level of safety and awareness on the road, addressing the unique challenges faced by two-wheelers in traffic.

Enhancing Road Safety for Motorcyclists

The SR-1 system is engineered to assist riders with real-time monitoring of their surroundings. Through a combination of sophisticated algorithms, the radar continuously scans the areas behind and beside the motorcycle. It alerts the rider to potential hazards, including hidden vehicles, unsafe lane changes, risky overtaking maneuvers, and rapidly approaching traffic. This innovative technology is particularly important given the vulnerability of motorcycle riders compared to their four-wheeled counterparts.

With the SR-1, CHIGEE has avoided the common pitfall of simply adapting car radar systems for motorcycles. Instead, they have tailored the product to cater specifically to the unique motion dynamics of motorcycles in traffic scenarios. The system operates four separate alerts simultaneously; blind-spot detection, lane change assistance, active overtaking alerts, and rear collision warnings, each designed for different driving situations. Riders can also adjust the sensitivity of these alerts according to their preferences, enhancing the user experience.

Technical Innovation Behind the SR-1

Operating on a frequency of 77 GHz, the SR-1 delivers millimeter-precise measurements of distance and relative speed. It effectively filters out noise from traffic signals and other roadside devices, ensuring clear and accurate data is provided to the rider. Its dual-antenna design features a 2Tx/4Rx configuration that sweeps a 110-degree field behind the motorcycle, enabling detection ranges of up to 70 meters. This functionality remains effective under challenging weather conditions, including rain, fog, dust, and low light.

In a proactive approach to safety, the SR-1 includes a high-intensity light in its radar module that flashes automatically when a vehicle approaches at dangerous speeds from behind, alerting both the rider and the approaching vehicle thereof. This transforms what is primarily a passive monitoring sensor into an active safety device.

Easy Installation and Integration

Installation of the SR-1 is straightforward. The radar module is mounted at the rear of the motorcycle, while warning indicators are affixed to the mirrors, connecting via a single cable to the motorcycle's 12V circuit. Basic warning indicators do not require a separate display, but for those who want enhanced functionality, pairing the SR-1 with CHIGEE’s AIO-5 or AIO-6 displays provides on-screen radar data and audio alerts.

For increased integration, an optional radar mirror kit, CG BSD, incorporates the indicators directly into the motorcycle's mirrors, streamlining the design and setup.
