GLI Musashikosugi Summer School 2025 Boosts Children's Curiosity with Science and English

An Exciting Summer of Learning at GLI Musashikosugi 2025

From July 22 to 25, 2025, the GLI Musashikosugi Summer School welcomed children for an engaging experience that combined science, English, and teamwork. Hosted by the Global Learner’s Institute, this unique summer program attracted students eager to explore, learn, and make new friends.

Day 1: Learning About Simple Machines

The first day kicked off with intriguing discussions about simple machines such as the pulley and lever. Children actively engaged in hands-on activities, creating their own pulleys using cardboard. They were fascinated by the concept of gravity, learning that an object weighing 29 kg on Earth weighs only 5 kg on the Moon. This revelation left them visibly amazed. In a collaborative project, participants formed teams to create balance toys, thereby encouraging teamwork and communication as they worked toward a common goal.

Day 3: Delving Deeper into Science

During the third day, the focus shifted to understanding the principles of friction through a fun question: Why are bicycle tires round? This concept was further explored through the design of paper roller coasters. The afternoon's highlight involved students summarizing what they learned in English and presenting it to their peers. The confidence with which they spoke was a significant indicator of their growth, impressing everyone involved.

A Comprehensive Learning Experience

Over the span of four days, children participated in various activities, from scientific experiments to outdoor adventures. Each session was designed to foster creativity, teamwork, and English expression. We observed students approaching new friends, asking questions, and confidently sharing their opinions—showing remarkable personal growth in diverse situations. The balance of laughter and serious engagement created a fulfilling atmosphere throughout the camp.
