Alcami Boosts Quality and Packaging Features at Tennessee Facility to Enhance Operations

Alcami Enhances Operations at Tennessee Facility

Alcami Corporation, a prominent contract development and manufacturing organization (CDMO), has announced an extensive plan aimed at boosting its operational capabilities at its Tennessee facility, a site recently integrated into its network via the acquisition of Tjoapack. This strategic move is designed to reinforce both quality and operational consistency across the organization.

Enhancing Quality Management Systems

One of the cornerstones of Alcami's investment includes the integration of the Tennessee facility into its comprehensive Quality Management System (QMS). This site will transition to using MasterControl, a sophisticated digital platform already implemented across Alcami’s U.S. facilities. This step will facilitate greater standardization in procedures, enhance compliance measures, and provide improved transparency into operations, thereby ensuring that high-quality standards are consistently maintained across the board.

Investment in Infrastructure and Human Resources

In conjunction with technological upgrades, Alcami is also focusing on investing in its workforce and organizational structure at the Tennessee facility. The company plans to restructure its Quality and Operations teams to better cater to evolving customer needs. This restructuring aims to ensure that the right talent and capabilities are in place to support ongoing growth and meet future market demands.

Upgrading Packaging Lines

Alcami is set to enhance its packaging capabilities with several upgrades, including increased line speeds and the introduction of new equipment. A new high-speed bottle packaging line is scheduled to be operational in the first half of 2027, aimed at further amplifying the site’s capacity and throughput. Notably, the facility will also adopt serialization capabilities to comply with changing regulatory and client requirements, ensuring products are meticulously tracked throughout the supply chain.

Expanding Storage Capacities

As part of the ongoing enhancements, Alcami is integrating its Tennessee facility into a broader Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) storage network. This initiative focuses on expanding temperature-controlled storage capacities across various U.S. locations, implementing high-density storage options, upgrading warehousing infrastructure, and enhancing redundancy measures. These improvements aim to bolster operational efficiency, ensure flexibility, and uphold the continuity of supply—key factors in maintaining product integrity and customer satisfaction.

Commitment to Operational Excellence

Patrick Walsh, Interim CEO and Board Chair of Alcami, emphasized the significance of these enhancements: “By strengthening our Tennessee site across storage, packaging, quality systems, and team structure, we are enhancing our ability to integrate solutions and support customers with greater flexibility and reliability.” This commitment to improving both infrastructure and human resources is aimed at sustaining quality levels as the company adapts to increasing customer demand.

Looking Forward

These enhancements form a crucial aspect of Alcami's broader integration strategy following the Tjoapack acquisition. They reinforce the company's dedication to providing comprehensive, end-to-end solutions that span the entire spectrum of development, manufacturing, and packaging services. By focusing on operational excellence, Alcami is poised to meet the expectations of a rapidly evolving market and strengthen its position as a leader in the pharmaceutical industry.

Alcami Corporation is headquartered in North Carolina and boasts over 45 years of experience advancing pharmaceuticals and biologics from development to delivery. The company offers fully integrated lab services, drug product manufacturing, primary and secondary packaging, and cGMP pharmaceutical storage.
