In an exciting presentation at the prestigious IAA Transportation 2026 exhibition held in Hannover, Germany, CDTL introduced its cutting-edge technologies designed specifically for commercial vehicles. Visitors to booth D37 in Hall 21 were offered an insight into the future of transportation with groundbreaking innovations such as distributed electric drive axles and Electromechanical Brake (EMB) systems.
Transformative Technologies for Heavy-Duty Vehicles
Among the star attractions was the EA5000NP distributed electric drive axle, renowned for housing two oil-cooled motors and a two-speed transmission. This design eliminates the need for traditional mechanical differentials, allowing for sophisticated control such as electronic differential management, traction control, and independent torque distribution to each wheel. This innovative solution provides a nominal power of up to 660 kW and can peak at 900 kW. Already, the base platform has been implemented in more than 3,000 vehicles, showcasing its commercial viability.
For heavy-duty applications, the EA4800N electric drive axle boasts an astonishing maximum torque of approximately 48,000 N•m per axle, escalating to nearly 100,000 N•m in a dual-axle configuration. This makes it ideally suited for the demanding requirements of heavy-load vehicles.
Adding to the portfolio is the EA2100N low-floor electric axle, which has gained significant traction in European commercial operations, proving its reliability and efficiency in real-world applications in countries including France, Austria, and Belgium.
Smart Buses and Next-Gen Public Transport
In addition to trucks, CDTL's distributed propulsion system with independent suspension, the EA1100K, is set to revolutionize urban public transport. This system integrates propulsion, steering, and independent suspension, facilitating all-wheel steering, bi-directional operation, and a completely low-floor architecture — features that enhance accessibility and maneuverability in congested urban environments. Currently operational in China, Malaysia, and Turkey, this system underlines CDTL’s commitment to smart and sustainable public transport solutions.
The Efficiency of EMB Systems
The introduction of the EMB system marks a significant step towards improved vehicle efficiency. The emissions reduction potential is remarkable: this technology can cut system weight by over 100 kg, shorten braking distances by about 10%, and decrease energy consumption of the braking system by up to 85.4%. These attributes highlight the positive impact of EMB on weight reduction, braking performance, and overall energy efficiency.
