61st Annual Austin Trail of Lights: A Transformative Holiday Celebration
The Trail of Lights Foundation is thrilled to announce the commencement of ticket sales for the much-anticipated
61st Annual Austin Trail of Lights, generously powered by
H-E-B. Scheduled from
December 10 to December 23, 2025, this beloved festival is a hallmark of the holiday season in Austin, Texas, drawing thousands of visitors eager to embrace the festive atmosphere. With excitement in the air, the festival promises an enchanting experience in the picturesque setting of
Zilker Park.
A Holiday Tradition
What originated in 1965 as a humble gathering around a yule log has grown into the longest-standing event of its kind in the Texas capital. The Trail of Lights is recognized as one of the top Christmas light displays in the U.S., featuring over
2 million lights and
96 beautifully illuminated trees. Attendees will also marvel at more than
70 festive arrangements that include sparkling tunnels and vibrant displays, transforming the park into a winter wonderland.
From December 10 to 12 and from December 15 to 18, general admission to the festival will be
free, ensuring that everyone has a chance to relish the joyous occasion. However, for the peak nights from December 13 to 14 and December 19 to 23, attendees can purchase tickets to enjoy the magic of the Trail of Lights.
Special Experiences and Community Impact
In addition to the display of lights, attendees will have the opportunity to participate in various special activities like the
Fun Run, the
Night Lights Preview Party, and exclusive premium ticket offerings. The revenue generated from these experiences significantly supports the operation of the festival and provides funding for the
STARS program, which facilitates free admission for about
120,000 community members every year through partnerships with local nonprofits.
The Trail of Lights grows more spectacular with each passing year and operates entirely on the generous support of corporate sponsors, individual donations, and ticket sales. Long-time title sponsor
H-E-B plays a pivotal role in this initiative, and several local firms join in partnership to elevate the experience for every visitor.
More Than Just Lights
While glimmering lights are a hallmark of the Trail of Lights, the festival is also a celebration of community spirit. It supports various charitable initiatives, including access programs for those with disabilities and free community performances. The efforts to make the event more accessible have turned this holiday celebration into a beacon of hope, inclusivity, and joy for the Austin community.
The Trail of Lights Foundation, an independent
501(c)3 nonprofit, is dedicated to the sustainability and enjoyment of this cherished tradition. The foundation works closely with its partner,
Forefront Networks, to ensure that each year's event is as magical as the last.
