Aberdeen Multi-Market Income Fund Announces a Significant 1-for-4 Reverse Stock Split for Enhanced Market Viability

Major Changes Ahead for Aberdeen Multi-Market Income Fund

The Aberdeen Multi-Market Income Fund (NYSE: MMT) has made headlines with the announcement of a 1-for-4 reverse stock split, set to take place on November 9, 2026. This significant alteration is designed to enhance the fund’s market presence and appeal to a wider range of investors.

Why a Reverse Stock Split?

The decision, ratified by the Fund's Board of Trustees, stems from the intention to elevate the per-share market price. The board suggests that a higher share price can potentially diminish trading and administrative hurdles commonly associated with lower-priced stocks. Moreover, this adjustment is believed to make the Fund more compatible with certain investment platforms and intermediary programs.

In other words, this strategic maneuver aims to position the Fund more favorably within the market, aligning its share price with industry norms. It’s crucial to note that shareholders won't see any change in the overall value of their investment due to this split; however, the market value of their shares will continue to fluctuate based on prevailing market conditions.

Details of the Transaction

Under the new terms, every four common shares will be consolidated into one common share. It's also worth mentioning that no fractional shares will be issued; instead, fractional entitlements will be collected and sold, with the generated proceeds redistributed among those affected shareholders. Importantly, this reverse stock split will apply evenly across all shareholders and will not alter any shareholder's proportional ownership interest, except for slight variations due to the handling of fractional shares.

Post-split, the Fund’s shares will maintain their trading status on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker symbol MMT. A new CUSIP number will also be introduced, ensuring clarity in trading.

Continued Distribution Policy

Despite the changes, the Fund's established managed distribution policy remains unchanged. There will continue to be monthly distributions at an annualized rate of 11.00% of the Fund’s average daily net asset value calculated from the end of the previous month to the declaration date. However, since there will be fewer shares post-split, the distribution amount per share is expected to rise proportionately, even while the entire distribution rate stays constant.

For shareholders maintaining their shares through brokerage accounts, adjustments will generally be made automatically. On the other hand, shareholders with physical share certificates or those who have queries related to their accounts should reach out to the Fund’s designated transfer agent, Computershare Trust Company, N.A.
