Field Trip Plus: A Unique Learning Experience for Students
The Global Learner's Institute (GLI) is set to host an intriguing event called
Field Trip Plus on May 18, 2025, specifically designed for elementary, middle, and high school students. Taking place in the vibrant area of Odaiba, Tokyo, this event promises to deliver concrete results in English language acquisition alongside hands-on explorative learning. As a program that has consistently reached full capacity,
Field Trip Plus combines preparatory learning with fieldwork, allowing students to utilize their English skills outside the classroom.
A Practical Approach to Learning English
One of the unique aspects of this event is its focus on real-world English usage. Participants will hone their language skills by engaging with international tourists through interviews. The program features visits to two notable locations: the
National Museum of Emerging Science and Innovation (Miraikan) and
Diversity Tokyo Plaza. Here, students will immerse themselves in science, culture, and creativity, fueling their sense of inquiry and enhancing their communication abilities.
Odaiba serves as an excellent backdrop for authentic English conversation practice, given its popularity among foreign visitors. At Miraikan, students will have the opportunity to explore cutting-edge technologies relating to artificial intelligence, space exploration, and robotics. Meanwhile, they will engage in interviews with tourists at the Diversity Tokyo Plaza, experiencing a form of inquiry-based learning that emphasizes active questioning, information gathering, and knowledge deepening.
Enhanced Preparatory Learning for Field Trip Plus
This year,
Field Trip Plus has been revamped to include enhanced preparatory lessons, aimed at maximizing learning outcomes. The preparatory curriculum is designed to help students get ready for the event and includes the following topics:
- - Mastering basic English vocabulary related to science, space, and technology.
- - Creating interview questions and practicing conversational expressions.
- - Guidance on interview etiquette, including how to approach and engage others respectfully.
- - Team-building strategies and role assignment.
- - Practicing how to discuss their future aspirations in English.
- - Learning research techniques regarding the nationalities and purposes of tourists.
Through these preparatory lessons, students will arrive on the day of the trip ready to experience the joy of successfully expressing themselves in English, enhancing both their confidence and proficiency.
