Abu Dhabi Art Fair 2025: An Artistic Extravaganza
The much-anticipated Abu Dhabi Art Fair is set to make its grand return this year, running from November 19 to 23, 2025. Organized by the Department of Culture and Tourism - Abu Dhabi (DCT Abu Dhabi), this event marks its 17th edition, showcasing a remarkable diversity of artistic expressions from across the globe. Featuring 140 galleries from over 35 countries, the fair emphasizes the growing global influence of Abu Dhabi as a cultural hub.
Spotlight on Global Art
This year’s fair will prominently feature dynamic art scenes from Nigeria, the Gulf region, and Turkey, with exciting new participants hailing from Algeria, the Netherlands, Peru, and Tanzania. The event significantly highlights Nigeria’s contemporary art movement, showcasing seven leading galleries that represent the vibrancy and innovation of Nigerian artists. This initiative is part of the broader project, Nigeria Everywhere, aimed at promoting Nigerian culture on an international scale.
The participating galleries, such as SOTO Gallery and AMG Projects, will present a mix of emerging and established artists whose works reflect the local realities while engaging in global dialogues about identity, politics, and history. Visitors can expect a variety of innovative pieces ranging from mixed media to conceptual installations, all echoing the urgency and creativity found within contemporary Nigerian art.
Modern Turkish Art
A new section curated by Doris Benhalegua Karako will shine a light on rarely displayed works by modern masters from Turkey. Galleries like DG Art Gallery and Art On Istanbul Gallery will showcase iconic works, contributing to a richer understanding of Turkey’s artistic contributions.
The Gulf Region’s Representation
The fair will also celebrate prominent artists from the Gulf region. Leading galleries such as Hx Gallery and Albareh Art Gallery are set to feature noteworthy creators like Hassan Sharif and Mohammed Kazem. This inclusion underscores the commitment to showcasing unique narratives from the Middle East and beyond.
The Collectors' Salon
Returning this year is the Collectors' Salon, curated by Roxane Zand, former Vice Chairman of Sotheby’s Middle East. This exclusive area will present an impressive selection of art and antiquities from renowned dealers. Aldar Properties is also set to make its presence felt by opening the Aldar Hall at Manarat Al Saadiyat, serving as a bustling hub for galleries participating in the Gulf Focus section.
New exhibitors will include Loft Art Gallery and Comptoir de Mines from Morocco, further solidifying the fair’s reputation as an essential platform for art sales and exhibitions.
A Vibrant Public Program
Going beyond a typical art fair, Abu Dhabi Art Fair emphasizes its commitment to a diverse public program. Throughout the year, various installations, exhibitions, talks, and events will be held at different venues, concluding with the November event that serves as both an essential sales platform for galleries and a showcase for significant site-specific works.
The Abu Dhabi Art Fair continues to evolve while proudly representing the rich tapestry of artistic talent present in today’s global scene. Through its collaborations, innovative showcases, and focus on inclusivity, the fair stands as a testament to the flourishing cultural dialogue occurring in the heart of the Middle East.
