Imperial Beer Launches Cultural Platform for Costa Ricans Abroad Supporting Community Ties

Imperial Celebrates Costa Ricans Abroad

Imperial, the renowned beer brand from Costa Rica, has officially launched a new cultural initiative called Es de Ticos. This program is designed to honor and recognize the traditions, experiences, and cultural elements that define the essence of being Costa Rican. With over 63,000 Costa Ricans living overseas, this initiative aims to reconnect them with their heritage through various events held in cities like Toronto and Medellín.

A Celebration of Traditions

The Es de Ticos platform is set to bring vibrant cultural experiences to Costa Rican communities across the globe. Planned activities include traditional Costa Rican dinners, piñata celebrations, and comedic monologues that reflect the rich cultural tapestry of Costa Rica. These events are crafted to create environments where Costa Ricans abroad can relish and revive the traditions they hold dear.

According to data from the Supreme Electoral Tribunal of Costa Rica, more than 63,000 citizens registered to vote from outside the country in 2026, indicating a robust global presence of Costa Ricans. Many of these individuals ventured abroad for educational and employment prospects, fostering communities that stand as a testament to their resilience and adaptability.

Bridging Cultures and Heritage

The Central Bank of Costa Rica reports that individuals relocating abroad often pursue better educational or professional opportunities. Notably, among Costa Ricans aged 25 and older residing in the United States, approximately 38% have at least a bachelor's degree, and more than half have lived there for over 20 years, according to the Pew Research Center. This strong educational foundation underscores their successful integration into their adopted nations.

Despite the reasons behind their relocation, many Costa Ricans continue to cherish their customs and maintain connections with their roots. The Es de Ticos initiative will emphasize the importance of these traditions, reinforcing the idea that regardless of geographic boundaries, cultural identities remain a pivotal part of life.

Fabián Loría, Brand Director at Imperial, expressed the sentiment behind this initiative: "Costa Ricans can build lives in various corners of the world, yet they maintain a unique bond with their traditions and origins. Through these activities, we aim to recognize and celebrate the elements that unite us, continuing the Costa Rican experience no matter where we are."

A Broader Impact of Heineken Costa Rica

Their production plants span across more than 70 markets, employing about 85,000 people worldwide. Heineken's commitment to sustainability and community engagement is a vital part of its corporate ethos, as reflected in the Brew a Better World strategy.

As Es de Ticos rolls out globally, it will continue to serve as a reminder of the deep connections shared among Costa Ricans, no matter the distance that separates them from their homeland. By celebrating their unique cultural heritage, Imperial is not only reinforcing bonds within the communities but also honoring the rich diversity of Costa Rican identity in the global landscape.
