Hanwha Life Continues Its Support for Vietnam's Informatics Olympiad to Foster AI Talent Development

The 7th Informatics Olympiad, exclusively backed by Hanwha Life, took place between April 10-12 at the Vietnam-Korea University of Information and Communication Technology (VKU) in Da Nang. This prestigious event, which showcases the talents of middle and high school students across Vietnam, aims to enhance their knowledge and skills in information technology, particularly focusing on artificial intelligence (AI).

This year’s competition featured three main tracks: AI, IT Major, and Non-IT majors. One notable advancement was the enhanced AI Track, which was first introduced last year. This evolution allows the Olympiad to function as a vital platform for nurturing AI talent in Vietnam, an area deemed crucial for the nation’s technological advancement.

Hanwha Life has been a dedicated sponsor of this event for three consecutive years, aligning its corporate social responsibility initiative, Future Plus, with the objective of discovering and encouraging exceptional talents in finance and ICT. Special guests—including Lim Suk Hyun, Head of Corporate Planning Division at Hanwha Life, and Huynh Cong Phap, President of VKU—graced the event to witness the talents on display. They also participated in the presentation of certificates and trophies to the winners in various categories, particularly in the AI Challenge category.

In addition to the competition, Hanwha Life organized campus tour programs aimed at the local community and students. These tours provided career counseling and job experience opportunities to participants, helping them explore various pathways for their futures. The initiative aims to inspire students and provide a clear vision of their career trajectories in the evolving job market.

Hanwha Life not only supports the competition but also takes an active role in fostering further opportunities for the winners. For instance, participants from last year’s competition were invited to join the 'Hanwha Life Training Program for Vietnam's Outstanding FinTech Talents' in South Korea, allowing them to gain a broader worldview and excellent skills in the fintech sector.

Lim Suk Hyun emphasized the significance of the Informatics Olympiad, noting that it is evolving into more than just a competition; it has become a crucial entry point for talented individuals to integrate into Vietnam's IT ecosystem. He stated, "We will continue to support participants so they can grow into key drivers of Vietnam's financial and ICT industries."

Echoing this sentiment, Huynh Cong Phap highlighted the Olympiad’s role in enabling future IT leaders to demonstrate their capabilities fully. His appreciation for Hanwha Life’s sponsorship showcases the importance of collaboration between education institutions and the corporate sector in nurturing future innovations and leaders.

Moreover, looking ahead, Hanwha Life plans to organize an exchange program for Vietnamese university students this August. This program will include academic conferences, hackathons, and opportunities for professional networking and fellowship, further contributing to the development of a robust pool of digital talent in Vietnam.

Vietnam-Korea University of Information and Communication Technology (VKU), established in 2007 with support from the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), is key in training ICT professionals. The university aspires to become a leading institution for ICT education in Central Vietnam and across the country, reflecting the ongoing push for greater specialization and expertise in the field. The partnership with Hanwha Life through events like the Informatics Olympiad exemplifies a proactive approach in preparing students for demanding futures in technology careers.
