Kakujyo Fisheries Returns with Grilled Unagi for Doyo no Ushi Day!

Kakujyo Fisheries Announces Revival of Grilled Unagi

After an eight-year hiatus, Kakujyo Fisheries is thrilled to announce a limited-time sale of their famous grilled unagi, ready to be enjoyed freshly cooked for the upcoming Doyo no Ushi Day, taking place from July 18 to July 19, 2024. This event marks a joyful return for many fans who had eagerly awaited the return of this delicacy. Known for its high sales during the Doyo no Ushi Day, the company aims to impress customers with the rich flavor and aroma of their grilled unagi.

The grilled unagi will be available at five selected stores in Saitama Prefecture: Kawaguchi, Soka, Koshigaya, Tokorozawa, and Omiya. Each store will feature a special tent set up outside where chefs will prepare the unagi over an open flame, creating an irresistible aroma that captivates customers. The texture of the fish is enhanced by the direct grilling process, leading to a crispy skin and a tender, juicy inside, making for a delicious meal reminiscent of specialized unagi restaurants. In addition to the grilled unagi, other cooking facilities in Kodaira, Hino, and Sagami stores will also offer freshly cooked unagi dishes.

Record-Breaking Sales

Doyo no Ushi Day is known as a peak day for unagi sales, with previous records indicating over 40,000 unagi related items sold in just one day. Last year's celebration saw a remarkable total of over 31,000 unagi items sold across all stores, which included popular dishes like unadon (rice topped with grilled eel) and hitsumabushi (grilled eel served with condiments). From unadon and unagi-don, to unique variations like hitsumabushi and generous portions of unagi tempura bowls, this year’s summer menu features an astonishing range of eel-based meals. Additionally, you can enjoy new items like unagi onigiri (rice balls with eel) and unagi wrapped rice made with fluffy glutinous rice.
