Might's Solo Exhibition: 'Draw a Line'

Starting from March 5, 2026, tHE GALLERY OMOTESANDO will host the solo exhibition "Draw a Line" by the artist known as Might, curated by Yasumasa Yonehara. This exhibition promises to be a heartfelt exploration of youth, identity, and memory.

Artist’s Statement

In our lives, we are unable to articulate everything within our personal spaces. The songs we used to love gradually lose their sharp edges over time. We tend to forget places, people, and experiences.

However, as we walk through the city, familiar road signs, bus stops, and trees reignite forgotten memories. We are reminded of the scents of winds reminiscent of certain individuals, flavors of foods once adored, and melodies that transport us back to distant landscapes.

These fleeting moments collectively create the tapestry of our cities, subtly intertwining your room with the broader world. Following these lines can take us anywhere, leading to reconnections with the past.

About Might

Might, an “Artrator,” is an artist who found herself embodying both artist and illustrator sides while pursuing her passion for drawing. Her creativity gained significant attention after illustrating a music video for the song "Yoriyoi" by singer-songwriter Wanuka, which became a massive hit on platforms like TikTok and YouTube.

This exhibition marks her third solo event, and this time, she collaborates with singer-songwriter Takako Fujita to broaden her artistic horizons. The showcased artworks, created using oils and acrylics, reflect this fruitful collaboration.

Curator Yasumasa Yonehara’s Insights

The exhibition is a reaffirmation of Might's consistent theme: "light of youth", presented from her current standpoint. In contemporary art circles, expressions reflecting the inner turmoil, anxieties, or societal distortions of artists often receive higher praise. While this perspective on life is essential and validates its complexities, a direct and affirmative depiction of youth is sometimes overlooked.

The young girls featured in Might’s works find themselves in a time of innocence, not yet jaded by the world. Their smiles are not merely symbols of cuteness; they represent a state of mind that is filled with trust and unscathed expectations.

What Might portrays is not a mere idealization of youth but a resolute intention to hold onto their fragile innocence in the present. Understanding and accepting the darkness within is a societal obligation, but so is preserving the purity of the heart.

Portraying brightness is far from superficial; affirmation is not an escape from reality. The youth captured in Might's art remains persistently optimistic. This straightforwardness embodies the core of her exhibition.
