Expo 2027 Belgrade Showcases Serbia's Tourism at WTM London
Expo 2027 Belgrade to Present Serbia's Tourism at WTM London
In a significant move to promote its tourism sector, Serbia will be showcasing its offerings at the World Travel Market (WTM) in London, a crucial platform for the travel industry. The Expo 2027 in Belgrade, set to take place from May 15 to August 15, 2027, is expected to attract over four million visitors and feature more than 140 international participants. This specialized expo aims to highlight the rich cultural heritage, stunning landscapes, and traditional gastronomy of Serbia.
According to Igor Kovačević, the director of Expo 2027 Belgrade, the event represents an opportunity for travel professionals to develop packages that connect the expo experience with various tourist destinations in Serbia. The exhibition promises to be a vibrant hub for cultural exchange and tourism, merging sport and music under its overarching theme, “Play for Humanity Sport and Music for All.” Here, visitors will be able to explore the Danube’s scenic beauty, the picturesque mountains and villages of western Serbia, alongside the country’s famous wine culture and culinary delights.
Travel agencies are already encouraged to start integrating Expo 2027 into their offerings for 2027, which could include guided tours, group packages, or bespoke itineraries combining Belgrade with surrounding areas like Novi Sad, Fruška Gora, and the Danube Gorge. This initiative is part of a broader international campaign dubbed Visit Serbia, which promotes routes linking the expo with key cultural and natural attractions.
The tourism statistics from January to August 2026 paint a positive picture for Serbia’s travel industry, with a recorded 6.5% increase in international arrivals, totaling 3.13 million, and a 5.8% rise in overnight stays (reaching 4.33 million), indicating a growing interest among travelers. Notably, British tourist visits surged by 8.7%, further underscoring the UK's significance as a market for Serbian tourism.
The expo will be located at ExCeL London, running from November 3 to 5, 2026, thereby positioning Serbia strongly on a global tourism stage. With the narrative of interconnectedness through heritage, gastronomy, wine routes, and nature excursions, Serbia aims to cultivate longer stays and enhanced tourism experiences for global visitors.
As the countdown begins to Expo 2027, the anticipation builds for showcasing how Serbia, with its diverse packages, can become a key player in the tourism sector. The event is not just an exhibition; it is an invitation to experience and explore the unique essence of Serbia.
