Semper Fi & America's Fund Announce $500,000 Campaign to Reconnect Veterans

Semper Fi & America's Fund Launches Unit Reunion Match Campaign

Oceanside, California — May 19, 2026
Semper Fi & America's Fund, an organization dedicated to supporting veterans, has announced a new initiative called the Unit Reunion Match Campaign. This national fundraising effort aims to assist veterans in reconnecting with their comrades and healing from the effects of military service.

Starting from May 18 and set to run throughout the summer, this campaign will match all donations dollar-for-dollar, up to $500,000, thanks to a generous benefactor who is a long-time supporter of the Fund. The goal is to raise up to $1 million to bolster the Unit Reunion program.

The Unit Reunion program offers veterans a valuable opportunity to gather with those they served alongside, providing not only the chance for emotional healing but also the restoration of vital connections that can often be severed after service. Many veterans grapple with the invisible wounds of war, including post-traumatic stress disorder, traumatic brain injuries, or feelings of isolation.

Karen Guenther, the Founder and CEO of Semper Fi & America's Fund, shared her insights about the significance of the reunions:
"The bonds formed in service do not end when our troops come home. For many veterans, reconnecting with those who stood beside them in combat can be profoundly healing. These reunions can restore connection, renew hope, and remind our veterans they are never alone and never forgotten."

The Unit Reunion program is not just about bringing veterans together; it is also about facilitating their long-term recovery and well-being. With the assistance of highly trained case managers, veteran-to-veteran leads, and visiting nurses, participants are introduced to necessary resources and care that support ongoing mental and physical health.

The impact of this initiative is likened to a lifeline by donors and veterans alike. One veteran, retired Marine Brandon Dodson, knows this sentiment all too well. He lost both legs after stepping on an IED during his fifth deployment in Afghanistan.

Dodson remarked,
"After my injury, there were many moments when I felt completely alone. The Fund was there for my family even before I came home. Unit Reunions remind veterans that the comrades who stood beside them in service are still with them now, and that connection matters more than most people realize."

The need for assistance continues to rise as more veterans seek help long after their service has concluded. Semper Fi & America's Fund has a history of providing critical support, having offered more than $500 million in grants, programs, and services to over 40,000 service members, veterans, and military families since its inception in 2004.

Research highlights the effectiveness of The Fund's programs; veterans who engage with the organization for three or more years report a 75% decrease in suicidal thoughts, anxiety, and housing insecurity, alongside an 80% decrease in substance misuse. Such figures emphasize the profound impact of personalized, lifelong support on veterans and their families.

If you wish to contribute to the Unit Reunion Match Campaign, donations can be made at www.thefund.org/unitreunionmatch2026. This initiative not only honors the past but also builds a supportive community for those who have given so much for their country.

As the campaign unfolds, it serves as a reminder that America stands beside its veterans, offering extensive avenues for healing, fellowship, and the renewal of essential bonds forged in service.
