Cleanova Strengthens its Position in the Filtration Industry
Cleanova, a prominent global entity in advanced industrial filtration solutions, has made headlines with its recent strategic acquisition of two companies, Airflotek and TES-Clean Air Systems, both situated in the United States. This acquisition not only broadens Cleanova’s filtration portfolio but also marks its entry into the critical market for ultra-clean controlled environments.
Founded in 1982, Airflotek has developed a reputation for its customized air filtration and monitoring systems. Their products serve a myriad of industries that impose strict air quality standards, particularly semiconductor manufacture, pharmaceuticals, and biotechnology. Meanwhile, TES-Clean Air Systems, established in 1986, has been the exclusive distributor of Airflotek products, boasting decades of experience in cleanroom and semiconductor applications, and catering to a wide range of clients across the globe.
The strategic purchase provides Cleanova with immediate access to vital technologies that are crucial for sectors reliant on ultra-clean environments, including AI-driven semiconductor manufacturing and the rapid scaling of data centers. Companies engaged in aseptic pharmaceutical and biotechnological production face immense pressure for reliability, performance, and contamination control; hence, the necessity for high-level air filtration cannot be overstated.
Airflotek and TES-Clean Air Systems bring unparalleled expertise and leading capabilities in critical cleanroom and ultra-clean air filtration technologies. Their customized Fan Filter Units (FFUs) utilize high-efficiency HEPA and ULPA filtration standards to guarantee the stringent particle control necessary for protecting sensitive processes. These carefully engineered solutions help clients meet rigorous regulatory standards and minimize contamination risks.
This latest acquisition is not Cleanova’s first strategic move; it marks the fifth and sixth acquisitions made by the company since 2023. Prior to this, Cleanova acquired the Micronics Engineered Filtration Group in 2025. Following the transactions, both Airflotek and TES-Clean Air Systems will be integrated into a single entity under the Cleanova umbrella, consolidating their brand strength.
The Chief Executive Officer of Cleanova, Chris Cummins stated, “Airflotek and TES-Clean Air Systems are a fantastic strategic fit for Cleanova. Their knowledge in tailored FFUs, HEPA/ULPA air filtration, and controlled environment solutions expands our offerings significantly in the semiconductor, pharmaceutical, biotech, and other highly regulated sectors where ultra-clean air is essential.” He emphasizes that together, they are reinforcing Cleanova’s position as a premier independent platform in industrial filtration, offering customers an even broader portfolio of robust critical solutions.
Alan Schlesinger, Airflotek’s President, and Jim Harris, founder of TES-Clean Air Systems shared their enthusiasm about joining Cleanova. They noted, “We are thrilled to become part of Cleanova, a company that shares our commitment to technical excellence, customer partnership, and mission-critical filtration performance. We are eager to contribute to Cleanova’s growth, while continuing to support our customers with the efficiency, reliability, and expertise they have come to expect from us.”
The managing partners of PX3, Cleanova’s private-equity parent company based in London, expressed optimism about this acquisition. They remarked, “We are pleased to support Cleanova management in this strategic acquisition of Airflotek and TES-Clean Air Systems. These clean-tech firms significantly enhance Cleanova’s capabilities in ultra-clean air filtration and controlled environments, while also providing access to lucrative, fast-growing markets.” This investment reiterates PX3’s commitment to expanding Cleanova’s footprint as a leading independent platform in industrial filtration globally.
In facilitating the transaction, Cleanova was ably supported by a roster of expert advisors including Alvarez & Marsal for accounting and tax matters, Aon for employee benefits, insurance, and pensions, Debevoise & Plimpton for tax structuring advice, Perkins Coie for legal advice, and Phoenix Advantage for IT consultancy.
