Reju Partners with Utexa and Antex for Sustainable Textile Innovation Using REJU Polyester™

Reju's Strategic Partnerships for Sustainable Textiles

In a significant move towards sustainability, Reju, a leader in textile regeneration, has announced strategic partnerships with renowned fiber manufacturers Utexa in Central America and Antex in Europe. This collaboration aims to integrate the innovative REJU Polyester™ into the manufacturing processes of these companies, with an eye on addressing the pressing issue of textile waste.

The Partnership Goals

The partnerships will involve Utexa and Antex validating the use of REJU Polyester™ in their production lines for endless fiber yarns, which are essential for various textile applications. These initiatives are set to commence with Utexa’s factory located in Choloma, Honduras, and Antex’s facility in Girona, Spain. The aim is to optimize these yarns for sustainable apparel development, with commercial applications expected by October 2025.

Reju's strategy is centered on creating a measurable impact on local textile waste problems by establishing a new circular textile system. This involves facilitating the aggregation of post-consumer textile waste and enhancing the infrastructure for sorting and preparation for recycling. By implementing Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) systems in the region, the partnership seeks to create scalable local solutions for textile waste governance.

Catalyst for Change

Patrik Frisk, the CEO of Reju, emphasized the significance of this venture: "These partnerships accelerate the development of high-quality, sustainable yarns that meet the growing demand for eco-friendly textile solutions sourced locally. By leveraging Utexa and Antex’s proven manufacturing capabilities alongside Reju's polyester, we aim to achieve meaningful changes in the textile industry while ensuring the production of superior quality yarns and fabrics."

The advantages of using Reju Polyester™ include:
  • - Lower Carbon Emissions: The regenerative process employed by Reju yields 100% recycled polyester, which has a carbon footprint approximately 50% lower than that of virgin polyester.
  • - Sustainable Quality: Reju's recycling technology guarantees high-quality polyester for textile applications, avoiding thermal degradation and contamination often seen in traditional mechanical recycling methods.
  • - Reliable Supply Chain: By focusing on local post-consumer waste issues and engaging partners within the region, this collaboration ensures a stable supply chain that enhances flexibility and market responsiveness for brands.

Industry Perspectives

Jon Pavlansky, President of Utexa, stated, "Working with Reju strengthens our mission to develop textile innovations across North and South America. We are excited to fully explore the potential of Reju’s polyester and set a new industry standard for sustainable yarns."

Marta Molist, Director of Innovation and Sustainability at Antex, remarked, "Cyclic polyester aligns perfectly with our commitment to sustainable innovation within textile supply chains. As a global producer of endless fiber yarns, we proudly contribute to the realization of this next-generation material, which balances performance, quality, and environmental responsibility on an industrial scale."

Looking Ahead

Further updates on the pilot program's progress and outcomes will be shared in the upcoming months. For those interested in more information about Reju, additional details can be found on their website at reju.com and on LinkedIn.
