Murakami Farm Achieves Record Sales of 13.25 Billion Yen in 2025

Murakami Farm's Remarkable Success in 2025

Murakami Farm, based in Hiroshima and renowned for its leadership in the domestic sprout vegetable market, has reached an unprecedented sales milestone of 13.254 billion yen for the fiscal year ending December 2025. This achievement represents a remarkable 117% increase compared to the previous year, marking the second consecutive year of outstanding sales performance. Moreover, the company has reported that its monthly sales have surpassed the same month in the previous year for 28 consecutive months.

A significant contributor to this growth has been the health-focused consumer trend, with products like "Broccoli Super Sprouts" and "Broccoli Sprouts 200" gaining immense popularity due to their high levels of sulforaphane, a compound noted for its antioxidant properties. Following the positive sales momentum of 2024, these products have continued to expand their recognition in the market. Specifically, the Broccoli Super Sprouts have experienced a 121% increase in sales compared to last year, with their shipping volume reaching nearly five times what it was a decade ago.

In addition to their strong sales, Murakami Farm has recently initiated a collaborative research project with Tohoku University’s Graduate School of Medicine to further explore the potential uses of sulforaphane in food products. This research is essential as sulforaphane is recognized for its potent antioxidant properties, which are believed to contribute to disease prevention and anti-aging.

As vegetable prices continue to rise due to climate change, the versatile and affordable "Tounyu (pea sprouts)" has emerged as a favored option for many households, boasting a remarkable growth rate of 119% year-on-year. Set to celebrate its 30th anniversary in December 2025, Tounyu intends to remain a beloved staple, balancing nutrition, cost, and usability, thus reinforcing its status as a "cost-effective super vegetable" among consumers.

With the establishment of the new production center in Date, Hokkaido last year, Murakami Farm has successfully structured its operations to optimize supply across the country with 13 regional production sites. This setup allows for quicker delivery of fresher products, enhancing customer satisfaction. Plans for expanding existing facilities are also underway, signaling an ongoing commitment to increasing production capacity and meeting the growing health demands of consumers.

Mr. Kiyotaka Murakami, the CEO of Murakami Farm, stated, "As our nation ages, extending healthy life expectancy becomes a crucial issue. A balanced diet and regular exercise are foundational. Since signing the exclusive license to produce Broccoli Sprouts in Japan from Johns Hopkins University in 1999, we have developed a consistent system to monitor sulforaphane levels in our produce. This commitment has resonated with our customers, leading to a rapid expansion in demand for our products. We aim to continue enhancing our production capacity to meet customer expectations."
