Cathay Pacific Airlines Resumes Winter Flights from Hong Kong to Adelaide
Cathay Pacific Airlines, headquartered in Hong Kong and led by CEO Ronald Lam, is set to reintroduce its direct flights between Hong Kong and Adelaide, South Australia, starting on November 11, 2025. This service will operate three times a week as part of an initiative to expand connectivity in the South Pacific region during the winter season.
The revival of this key route emphasizes the strategic importance of linking Hong Kong with Adelaide, thereby providing passengers with enhanced options to travel to various destinations throughout the South Pacific region. Currently, Cathay Pacific maintains year-round services to Auckland, Brisbane, Melbourne, Perth, and Sydney, while offering seasonal flights to Cairns and Christchurch. With the addition of Adelaide, the airline will now serve a total of eight cities in the South Pacific.
The flights from Hong Kong to Adelaide will be operated using the Airbus A350-900 aircraft, featuring a range of seating options for travelers. Business class will offer fully flat seats, while premium economy will provide more spacious seating, ensuring a comfortable experience for all passengers traveling in economy class.

Lavinia Lau, Chief Customer and Commercial Officer of Cathay Pacific, expressed her enthusiasm about reinstituting flights between Hong Kong and Adelaide, noting, "We are extremely pleased to be reinstituting services between our home hub of Hong Kong and the vibrant city of Adelaide. This city holds a special significance for us, having launched our first passenger flights there in 1992. Over the past 30 years, we’ve established a strong partnership with the Adelaide Flight Training Center, following the arrival of our first pilot candidates in the area just two years later. Starting this November, we will operate about 90 round trips per week across eight cities in the South Pacific, providing flexible travel options for business, leisure, and visiting family and friends. We look forward to offering a unique Cathay travel experience."
In light of this development, Cathay Pacific is committed to expanding its network to meet diverse customer needs while providing each passenger with a premium travel experience. Moreover, alongside its low-cost carrier, HK Express, the airline plans to add 16 cities to their expanding global network within the first half of 2025, aiming to reach 100 cities worldwide.
This year, Cathay Pacific has also launched direct services from Hong Kong to Hyderabad (India), Dallas (USA), and Urumqi (China), with plans for additional routes to Rome on June 5, Munich on June 16, and Brussels on August 3, leading up to the launch of the Adelaide service in November.
Additionally, the Adelaide route will benefit cargo operations, with Cathay Cargo operating two freighter flights per week and utilizing the passenger aircraft's cargo holds, making it easier for customers needing freight services during the winter season.
