Schedule for the Day
The program spans from 10:00 AM to 3:30 PM and includes hands-on activities and expert-led discussions. Here’s how the day will unfold:
- - 10:00 AM - 10:15 AM: Arrival and Opening
- - 10:15 AM - 12:30 PM: Aroma Session
Participants will engage in distilling various substances sourced from local forests to create aromatic waters. Led by Eri Yoshinari, the representative of Phnom Toi, this segment explores how products that capture the scent of forests can increase community involvement and awareness.
- - 12:30 PM - 2:30 PM: Food Session
After enjoying a meal crafted from local ingredients, participants will gather to create their version of ‘satoyama kakigori’ using seasonal fruits and the pure water from Kumano, a renowned source. This part of the workshop will be enlightened by insights from Kanichi Saito, a former president of Tagayasu Club, who will discuss strategies for building a loyal audience while practicing organic farming.
- - 2:30 PM - 3:30 PM: Group Work
Participants will collaborate under the guidance of Michiko Chiba of Moribito to brainstorm how to effectively present the treasures of Kumano’s clear waters. Each individual will receive feedback on their ideas from Eri Yoshinari to refine their concepts.

This initiative transcends environmental conservation; it is a call for hands-on participation to turn local community challenges into new societal values.
