Hudson Regional Health Unveils New Four-Hospital Network After Bankruptcy Resolution
Hudson Regional Health has formally launched its new healthcare system following the successful resolution of CarePoint's bankruptcy plan. This new health system will be headquartered in Secaucus and will integrate several important facilities, including Hudson Regional Hospital, Christ Hospital in Jersey City, Hoboken University Medical Center, and Bayonne Medical Center. Additionally, the organization comprises over 70 affiliated practice locations that provide a wide range of medical and surgical specialties, alongside primary care services.
According to Yan Moshe, the Chairman of Hudson Regional Health, this initiative marks an essential step towards redefining healthcare in Hudson County. Moshe expressed that without combining the resources and operations of the four major hospitals, a sustainable healthcare environment would be nearly impossible. This transformation encapsulates over five years of strategic planning and commitment.
On April 17, 2025, U.S. Bankruptcy Judge Kate Stickles confirmed the Chapter 11 plan for CarePoint Health Systems Inc., paving the way for the establishment of Hudson Regional Health. Following the plan's effective date on May 22, 2025, the new healthcare organization began to implement operational changes aimed at improving services across its facilities.
Mr. Moshe has played a pivotal role in this process, having previously transformed the former Meadowlands Hospital into the now-renowned Hudson Regional Hospital in 2018. His efforts extend to completing the acquisition of various hospital properties, including the Bayonne Medical Center, and overseeing the operations of both Hoboken University Medical Center and Christ Hospital.
"We realized a long time ago that consolidating ownership and operations was the key to improving healthcare in our region," Moshe stated. "The community can now expect better access to modern medical facilities, leading providers, and efficient management."
In an effort to exit bankruptcy successfully, Mr. Moshe personally arranged over $120 million in funding aimed at upgrading the previous CarePoint facilities in line with the standards set by Hudson Regional Hospital. Dr. Nizar Kifaieh, the CEO of Hudson Regional Health, echoed this sentiment, asserting that innovations achieved in Secaucus could now be expanded to benefit the greater region significantly. He noted the responsibility of healthcare delivery and emphasized the organization’s commitment to providing exemplary services. More than 1,500 doctors and 5,000 staff members are part of this newly formed network, making it a critical player in the local healthcare landscape. It will also offer the county's only certified university-level medical education programs.
The organization has pledged to introduce various enhancements, including facility renovations and new construction programs that aim to elevate healthcare standards across different communities. Many announcements regarding these healthcare initiatives will be made as the organization liaises with state health departments and various community boards.
To complete the complex transition process, both Mr. Moshe and Dr. Kifaieh recognized the vital contributions of a dedicated team, including Hudson Regional's attorney, Mohamed Nabulsi, and former CarePoint CEO, Dr. Achynta Moulick. Their combined efforts were crucial to ensuring the successful reorganization plan and laying the groundwork for future sustainability in Hudson County's healthcare sector.
Regarding the organizational transformation, Dr. Moulick added, "It’s been rewarding to navigate through both the legal and operational challenges leading to this solution that holds great promise for Hudson County's healthcare future." He stressed the spirit of collaboration that guided this initiative, insisting that their focus would remain on beneficiary outcomes across the community.
Mr. Nabulsi summarized the importance of the bankruptcy proceedings, highlighting their role in restructuring healthcare to achieve long-term viability. He also made note of the tireless collaboration between stakeholders, which ultimately resulted in a court-approved plan that secured the confidence of major creditors.
Hudson Regional Health carries forward the innovative legacy established by the Hudson Regional Hospital. Over the coming weeks, the organization will unveil branding initiatives and new community outreach programs emphasizing public health, online access, and wayfinding assistance. These efforts are part of Hudson Regional’s goal to build a healthier community through exceptional care and state-of-the-art medical technology. As they continue to innovate and expand, the healthcare network aims to serve as a beacon of high-quality, compassionate care in Hudson County.
