Groundbreaking Ceremony for New Rehabilitation Hospital

On August 14, 2026, significant strides were made in healthcare accessibility with the groundbreaking ceremony for a new 99,000 square-foot rehabilitation hospital in Redlands, California. This facility is the result of a collaboration between PMB, renowned for its healthcare real estate developments, and Loma Linda University Health, alongside Lifepoint Rehabilitation, a division of Lifepoint Health.

Located at 11207 New Jersey Street, the new hospital will feature 80 inpatient beds dedicated to intensive rehabilitation services. It aims to cater to adults recovering from severe health conditions such as strokes, neurological diseases, brain injuries, and other serious illnesses that necessitate focused rehabilitation efforts.

Nolan Weinberg, Senior Vice President of Development at PMB, emphasized the significance of this project, stating, "Breaking ground today represents far more than just laying the foundation for a new building - it's a promise to the community." The facility is designed to bridge the gap between acute medical care and the return to daily life, ensuring patients have access to specialized treatment within their communities.

The rehabilitation hospital, structured as a standalone entity, will offer a range of services, including specialized nursing and therapies in physical, occupational, and speech pathology. Furthermore, the facility is meticulously designed to foster a therapeutic environment that promotes movement and activity—integral to successful rehabilitation. It will boast modern amenities, adaptive living units, and multidisciplinary therapy gymnasiums, thereby encouraging patients to engage actively in their recovery process.

The groundbreaking event was well-attended with numerous community leaders and stakeholders present to celebrate this landmark moment in healthcare for the region. Loma Linda University Rehabilitation Hospital is projected to open its doors in the summer of 2028, and will also accommodate Loma Linda University Health's existing inpatient rehabilitation unit, consolidating care under one roof.

To finance this impactful project, PMB has partnered with a team including Layton Construction for general contracting, Material Design Architects for architecture, and Harrison Street Asset Management for funding.
