Expansion of Childcare Workforce Services
In response to the increasing demand for childcare services influenced by the new "Universal Childcare Enrollment Policy" and the growing need for flexible childcare hours, WILL GROUP's subsidiary, Will of Work Inc., is set to enhance its childcare workforce supply system in three major cities: Sendai, Kobe, and Hiroshima, starting April 1, 2026. This initiative will strengthen their service capabilities across 11 locations nationwide, addressing regional shortages in childcare professionals and adapting to the evolving needs of families.
The childcare industry has been struggling with a persistent shortage of professionals. The upcoming implementation of the Universal Childcare Enrollment Policy, along with expanded temporary childcare options, is anticipated to significantly alter existing childcare demands. By creating an environment where children can be enrolled regardless of parental employment, there has been an increase in short-term and spot-use childcare, shifting demand from traditional full-time and fixed arrangements to shorter, more variable options. This transformation creates new challenges, such as fluctuations in demand based on days and time slots, exposing a lack of available professionals for temporary and short-term placements.
Traditional staffing arrangements centered on full-time employees are no longer adequately meeting these new dynamics. Therefore, a versatile and flexible staffing system is essential to ensure that childcare facilities can cater to evolving needs. Moreover, in provincial areas, there is a noted trend of population and childcare demand concentrating around core urban centers, increasing the significance of establishing vital locations to cover wide-reaching demands. Considering various factors, such as population size, childcare needs, geographical characteristics, supply conditions, and government childcare support measures, Will of Work has strategically chosen Sendai, Kobe, and Hiroshima for the expansion of its services.
By effectively combining full-time and part-time professionals, Will of Work aims to enhance responsiveness to fluctuating childcare needs and expand their existing service functionalities.
