United Airlines Expands Summer Travel With New Flights
United Airlines has announced an exciting expansion of its summer flight schedule for 2026, introducing non-stop flights to several remarkable destinations in Europe. This move marks the airline's first direct routes from Newark/New York to popular locations including Split, Croatia, and Santiago de Compostela, Spain, enhancing connectivity across the Atlantic.
New Routes Unveiled
Starting April 30, 2026, travelers can embark on a journey to Croatia's stunning Dalmatian Coast with United's inaugural nonstop service to Split (SPU). This route includes three flights per week, providing travelers with a direct connection to one of Europe's most picturesque locations.
On May 1, United will begin offering four weekly flights to Bari (BRI), Italy. This will be particularly attractive to those looking to explore Southern Italy's gateway to the beautiful Puglia region, known for its food, culture, and stunning coastlines.
Additionally, the airline is pleased to introduce nonstop flights to Glasgow (GLA), Scotland, starting May 8. This service will operate daily, allowing passengers to easily access Scotland's vibrant cultural capital. Last but not least, on May 27, United will launch three weekly flights to Santiago de Compostela (SCQ), Spain, a city famous for its historical significance and pilgrimage routes.
Unparalleled Summer Schedule
With these new routes, United Airlines will operate one of the largest transatlantic schedules, providing nearly 770 weekly round trips by summer 2026. The expansion will allow travelers to explore a total of 36 European destinations from the U.S., including 14 unique locations that no other U.S. airline serves.
Furthermore, returning routes from last summer include flights to far-off places like Ulaanbaatar (UBN), Faro (FAO), Madeira Island (FNC), Palermo (PMO), Bilbao (BIO), and Nuuk (GOH), catering to the increasing desire for diverse and distinct travel experiences.
Meeting Growing Demand
United Airlines has observed a rising interest among travelers seeking new and exciting European destinations, veering away from the traditional tourist paths. With their recent summer schedule expansion, which set a record number of new destination launches, United aims to provide exceptional service to meet this demand.
The airline’s customers are looking for more than just common sites; they desire coastal experiences, cultural immersion, and the chance to explore off-the-beaten-path locations. The 2025 expansion was received with enthusiasm, and many of those new routes are set to be reintroduced in 2026 amid strong demands.
Bookings for these new routes can now be made online at united.com and through the United app. As air travel continues to rebound, United Airlines is poised to provide travelers with more opportunities to explore unique cultures and landscapes.
