Exploring Successful Hospital Project Management through Dialogue Design and Database Utilization

Introduction

On March 2, 2026, JPI (Japan Planning Institute) is set to host an enlightening seminar led by Mr. Motofumi Katsuya, Deputy Manager of the Planning Office at Naito Architectural Firm in Tokyo. The seminar will focus on a crucial topic in healthcare infrastructure: how to achieve successful hospital projects through effective dialogue design and the practical use of databases. Participants will gain valuable insights into preventing design changes and cost overruns in their projects.

Importance of Co-Creation

The development and improvement of hospital facilities require a close collaboration between healthcare professionals and architectural designers. In light of rising costs and challenging social dynamics, understanding effective design-build methods is more important than ever. The seminar will feature a case study of the Sanmu Medical Center, which successfully implemented a design-build approach to promote collaboration among clients, designers, and builders, referred to as the 'trinity' for project success.

Key Topics Covered

The seminar will cover a comprehensive array of topics vital for modern hospital construction, including:
1. Dialogue Design Techniques: Understanding how to facilitate co-creation between hospitals and designers through effective communication.
2. Successful Design-Build Case Studies: Examining real-world examples that demonstrate how the trinity model can streamline projects.
3. Cost Control in High-Cost Times: Learning adaptable design strategies for hospital architecture during periods of rising costs.
4. Disaster Response and Infection Control: Strategies to strengthen hospital designs against disasters and future pandemics in the new normal.
5. Q&A Session: Engaging directly with the speaker for deeper understanding.
