VARTA's Innovative Battery Portfolio
VARTA Automotive, a leading brand under Clarios, has unveiled its new product portfolio aimed at making battery selection effortless for retailers, workshops, and fleet operators. This innovative structure is essential for navigating the growing complexities of modern vehicles, ensuring that all stakeholders can choose the right batteries with ease.
Color-Coded Structure for Easier Identification
To address the diverse requirements of battery types, VARTA has introduced a color-coded labeling system within its new portfolio. The
SLI battery (labeled in blue) is designed for conventional vehicles, providing reliable starting power. The
EFB variant (in silver) enhances performance in Start-Stop vehicles and basic commercial applications. Meanwhile, the
AGM battery (gold label) caters to high-demand applications such as advanced Start-Stop systems, highly equipped commercial vehicles, and electric vehicles. An exciting addition is the
Li-Ion battery (orange label), tailored for off-grid recreational applications like campers and marine use. This battery offers superior energy storage and smart connectivity via a Bluetooth app, making it ideal for tech-savvy consumers.
This new system not only streamlines the selection process but also reduces complexity both in retail and online environments. Theres Gosztonyi, Vice President of Aftermarket EMEA at Clarios, highlighted, “With this new portfolio, we are not just simplifying battery selection; we are setting a new industry benchmark that enables customers to make informed decisions that enhance vehicle performance and reliability.”
Advanced Battery Technologies
VARTA's rollout includes new advanced battery types that meet the evolving needs of vehicles in today’s market. The
EFB H9 and
AGM H3 batteries provide improved energy efficiency, extended life cycles, and optimized performance for contemporary vehicles. To cater to heavy-duty applications, the VARTA ProMotive range has been expanded with the
EFB A-Type, specially designed to support low-voltage systems in modern trucks and commercial vehicles. Following this design approach, the new
AGM B-Type is set to enhance performance and reliability, with a planned market introduction in autumn 2025.
With the rise of digital and off-grid lifestyles, VARTA is also launching its
premium Li-Ion Leisure range, designed for campers, RVs, and marine applications. These batteries offer double the usable energy of lead-acid counterparts, over
3,000 cycles, are
45% lighter, and come with smart connectivity features through Bluetooth and CAN bus technology. The
VARTA Li-Ion Battery Check app provides real-time insights on battery integrity, charge state, and usage statistics.
Commitment to Retailers, Workshops, and Fleets
In addition to the product portfolio, VARTA continues to support its partners with dedicated services tailored to the automotive sector. Retailers will benefit from streamlined experiences and clear customer guidance, while workshops can rely on the
VARTA Battery Finder feature for precise battery selection and professional training on the latest technologies. Fleet operators gain access to the
VARTA Fleet program, offering expert support and customized purchasing solutions. Moreover, the
Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) calculator helps optimize investments by analyzing battery performance and cost-efficiency.
Through this new portfolio, VARTA reaffirms its commitment to simplifying battery selection while delivering market-leading performance. From automotive workshops to fleet managers and adventure enthusiasts, VARTA ensures that choosing the right battery has never been easier.
