Mullen Coughlin LLC Expands Litigation Practice with the Addition of David Moncure as Partner
Mullen Coughlin LLC has recently announced the expansion of its Litigation practice by welcoming David Moncure, CIPP/US, as a new partner. With over two decades of vast experience in eDiscovery and information governance, Moncure is expected to significantly enhance the firm’s capabilities in these areas.
David's illustrious career includes varied roles in both in-house settings and law firms, focusing on data privacy, cybersecurity, and compliance for high-stakes litigations. He has amassed experience working with multinational corporations and Fortune 500 companies, guiding them in building and managing effective data governance and privacy programs in the face of complex legal challenges. His expertise spans a variety of industries, enabling him to adapt strategies that meet diverse regulatory requirements.
At Mullen Coughlin, Moncure is poised to utilize his extensive knowledge to bridge the gap between legal terms and business strategy. This alignment is crucial for legal, risk management, cybersecurity, and IT teams aiming to navigate an increasingly intricate landscape of data privacy and security. His ability to translate complex legal and technical jargon into actionable business intelligence is considered an asset by the firm.
When asked about joining Mullen Coughlin, Moncure expressed his enthusiasm: “I am thrilled to join Mullen Coughlin's Litigation practice to help build upon the Firm's strong eDiscovery practice. I am excited to collaborate with such a talented team and help clients navigate complex discovery challenges with efficiency and innovation.”
Prior to this new role, David served as a partner in the AI Governance practice at a globally recognized accounting and consulting firm. In this capacity, he was responsible for crafting and executing AI and information governance strategies, training programs, and advising clients on best practices for eDiscovery. His work also included compliance with vital regulations such as the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA).
David has consistently proven to be a thought leader in eDiscovery, as well as artificial intelligence compliance and strategy development. His role as lead eDiscovery attorney for major enterprises involved litigation and governmental investigations has led to the creation of comprehensive legal eDiscovery playbooks and cross-border eDiscovery expertise within legal teams. This consistent focus on improvement and innovation will serve him well in his new position.
Carolyn Purwin Ryan, Chair of the Litigation Practice Group at Mullen Coughlin, expressed the firm’s excitement in welcoming David: “We could not be more thrilled to have David on our team. His recognition as a leading advocate in electronic discovery and artificial intelligence signifies the level of expertise he brings, which will undoubtedly benefit our clients.”
