Mattamy Homes Expands Presence in Charlotte
Mattamy Homes, the largest family-owned homebuilder in North America, recently took a significant step towards strengthening its footprint in the Charlotte, North Carolina region. On November 13, 2025, the company announced the acquisition of two key parcels of land in high-demand areas of Charlotte. These acquisitions reflect Mattamy's ongoing commitment to growth in communities that are not only desirable but also facing a shortage of housing.
The first site is a sprawling 65-acre parcel located in Mooresville, designated to become a vibrant community named Lanterna. This development is planned to feature 187 single-family homes, strategically designed to cater to the needs of prospective homeowners. Lanterna is set to include various amenities aimed at enhancing the living experience, such as five pocket parks, a mile of paved walking trails, and a dedicated dog park. Residents will benefit from its proximity to downtown Mooresville, access to top-rated schools, and major employment hubs, with easy connectivity via Interstate 77 just four miles away.
Mike Smedley, Director of Marketing for Mattamy's Charlotte Division, emphasized the company’s confidence in the Mooresville-Lake Norman area's long-term growth trajectory. He stated,
"Lanterna represents our steadfast commitment to delivering thoughtfully planned communities that blend quality homes with meaningful amenities. We aim to support homebuyers who are eager to be a part of this thriving region."
The second acquisition involves a 29-acre site in Cramerton, which will become Riverloom on the Southfork. This community is designed to consist of 61 charming brick ranch-style single-family homes. In an impressive commitment to community development, Mattamy will donate 7.1 acres of this land for a new public park along the riverfront. Additionally, residents will enjoy paved greenway walking trails and direct access to the Carolina Thread Trail, promoting an active lifestyle.
This location off Armstrong Ford Road positions residents within convenient reach of Cramerton, Belmont, and Charlotte, enhancing connectivity and accessibility. Smedley highlighted,
"This acquisition underscores our commitment to thoughtful growth and community investment across the Charlotte region. Riverloom on the Southfork promises not only quality homes but also scenic riverfront environments, adding substantial public spaces that will enrich the local community."
Site development activities for both Lanterna and Riverloom are scheduled to commence in early 2026. Through these developments, Mattamy Homes aims to cater to the surging demand for homeownership opportunities within some of the most sought-after locales in the Charlotte area.
