Taiwan Showcases Mandarin Education Excellence at 2024 ACTFL Conference

The annual convention organized by the American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages (ACTFL) is a pivotal event for language educators, and this year, Taiwan made its mark from November 22 to 24 at the Pennsylvania Convention Center in Philadelphia. This year's convention emphasized Taiwan's commitment to Mandarin education, featuring a delegation from the Foundation for International Cooperation in Higher Education of Taiwan (FICHET) alongside 20 prominent institutions from Taiwan, including universities and educational organizations.

Furthermore, FICHET Chairperson Wu Cheng-Chieh discussed the expansion of educational partnerships under the Taiwan-U.S. Education Initiative and Taiwan’s Mandarin Education 2025 Program, which has successfully connected 21 Taiwanese universities with 70 U.S. institutions. This year alone, Taiwan dispatched 147 Mandarin teachers to the United States to meet the surging demand and enhance the quality of Mandarin instruction.
