A Mediterranean Culinary Tribute: Barcelona in Tokyo
From February 24 to 28, 2026, Strings Hotel Tokyo Intercontinental will host a special dinner event titled "Mediterranean Flavors: A Tribute to Barcelona." This exclusive experience will feature a collaborative menu prepared by acclaimed chefs Joaquim Soler, Executive Chef of Bawah Reserve, and Jisas Nino, Executive Chef of Strings Hotel Tokyo.
Both chefs honed their skills under the esteemed Fermí Puig, a leading figure in Catalan cuisine. The dinner menu they present is a tribute to Puig's culinary philosophy and achievements, highlighting the sophistication and discipline integral to Catalan cooking. With a deep respect for local ingredients, they aim to showcase the essence of Catalan cuisine while incorporating modern sensibilities.
The Essence of Catalan Cuisine
Catalan cuisine is among the oldest food cultures in Europe, rooted in Roman times. Characterized by fresh seafood, seasonal vegetables, and a focus on olive oil, it exemplifies the Mediterranean bounty. Traditional cooking methods such as braising and grilling are masterfully fused with contemporary approaches, emphasizing harmony with the natural flavors of the ingredients.
This special dinner encapsulates the richness of Catalan culinary tradition in five exquisite dishes. Guests can also opt for a pairing plan featuring carefully selected wines that complement each course, promising a deeper appreciation of Catalonia’s gastronomic heritage.
