The Colorful Collision of Art and Technology at Frieze New York

LG Electronics has embarked on an exciting collaboration with renowned psychedelic pop artist Steven Harrington at the 2025 edition of Frieze New York. The exhibition, titled "Steven Harrington X LG OLED: Stop to Smell the Flowers," showcases Harrington's whimsical artworks displayed on LG's latest OLED technology, including the stunning transparent LG SIGNATURE OLED T.

Harrington's signature style, known for its vibrant colors and playful motifs, is beautifully brought to life through LG's cutting-edge technology. The OLED screens are celebrated for their perfect blacks and vivid color reproduction, making them ideal for displaying art that is both dynamic and colorful. This partnership allows Harrington to use LG OLED as his digital canvas, amplifying the immersive experience for audiences at Frieze.

A Whimsical Installation

The exhibition features Harrington’s beloved character, Mello, who cheerfully invites visitors to engage with his artwork in a unique way. Positioned against a backdrop of vibrant, opaque flowers, Mello waves to onlookers as they approach. As visitors come closer, the flowers gradually retreat, revealing the transparent screen that allows them to step behind and take memorable photos with this cheerful character. The transforming nature of the exhibit—shifting from opaque to transparent—creates an augmented-reality feel, leaving attendees spellbound.

Whether set against a muted gray background or shown on the versatile LG StanbyME 2 screens, the LG OLED displays enhance the luminescence of Harrington's art. The showcased models include the LG OLED evo M5, G5, and StanbyME 2, each presenting Harrington's colorful artistry. The M5 model impresses with its wireless capabilities, while the G5 dazzles with its self-lit technology that brings stunning visuals with impressive depth. The soon-to-debut StanbyME 2 is adaptable for a multitude of settings, be it mounted on a wall or set on a stand, making it perfect for art exhibitions.

Harrington reflects on this collaboration with enthusiasm, noting, "This partnership has significantly broadened my perspective on creating art. Being the first artist in the U.S. to utilize LG's transparent OLED TV has allowed me to explore a new medium—enabling light, motion, and color to animate my characters like never before. It opens new avenues for vibrancy and storytelling that I am eager to pursue."

An Artistic Canvas for the Future

LG's Vice President of Experiential Marketing,
Kate Oh, expressed excitement about the partnership, emphasizing that LG OLED TVs deliver unparalleled visual quality that serves as the ultimate digital canvas. “Collaborating with bold artists like Steven Harrington aligns perfectly with our mission to inspire art and foster connections through innovative digital experiences,” she stated.

Visitors to the exhibition at Frieze New York, taking place from May 7 to 11, can indulge in the latest OLED displays and Harrington's artwork firsthand at The Shed. The event marks the first U.S. showcase of the SIGNATURE OLED T since its launch last December, boasting breathtaking clarity and seamlessly blending into various environments.

In addition to this groundbreaking exhibition, LG plans to continue its artistic endeavors by partnering with the Italian design brand Kartell for a display of the SIGNATURE OLED T at their flagship store in New York. Furthermore, LG is collaborating with rising digital artist
Ayoung Kim**, the third recipient of the LG Guggenheim Award, for an upcoming exhibition at the prestigious Guggenheim Museum.
