Covation Biomaterials Unveils Innovations at K-Show 2025 for BioPTMEG

Covation Biomaterials LLC, operating under the brand name CovationBio®, has made a significant impact at K-Show 2025, the premier global trade fair for plastics and rubber, held in Düsseldorf, Germany. This event serves as a platform for the company to highlight the milestones and advancements of its innovative product, CovationBio® bioPTMEG.

Originally announced at ChinaPlas in April 2025, CovationBio® bioPTMEG is a revolutionary bio-based polymer known as poly(tetramethylene ether) glycol (PTMEG). This advanced and sustainable product is designed to deliver superior performance while substantially reducing production emissions compared to traditional fossil-fuel-derived alternatives. "We continue to reach significant milestones towards the commercial launch of bioPTMEG, thanks to our ongoing collaboration with clients," said Feifeng You, President of Covation Biomaterials.

CovationBio® bioPTMEG sets itself apart as a renewable alternative to petroleum-based PTMEG, addressing the urgent need to minimize reliance on non-renewable resources. It not only enhances sustainability but also meets the high performance standards required in applications such as elastane, polyurethanes, and thermoplastic elastomers. Some of the key sustainable benefits offered include:

  • - A substantial decrease in greenhouse gas emissions compared to fossil fuels.
  • - A product derived entirely from renewable resources, being 100% bio-based.
  • - Utilization of feedstocks like corn stover, which do not compete with primary food sources.
  • - A significant reduction in dependence on non-renewable fossil fuels.
  • - Seamless integration capabilities that allow downstream customers to transition to bio-based feedstock without major process modifications.

As announced during ChinaPlas 2025, Covation Biomaterials is on track to mechanically complete the construction of its dedicated CovationBio® bioPTMEG manufacturing facility by the end of 2025. Located in Qidong, Jiangsu province, China, commercial production is projected to commence in the first half of 2026. Emphasizing this year's K Show theme of "The Power of Plastics! Green - Smart - Responsible," Covation Biomaterials aims to share detailed insights on how CovationBio® bioPTMEG can play an integral role in downstream materials such as TPU, PU, COPE, COPA, and spandex, advocating for sustainability strategies within diverse applications.

Visitors to the K Show can engage with the Covation Biomaterials team at Hall 5, Booth C07-1. On October 10, 2025, Dr. Mosha Zhao, Global Marketing Director of the C4 Platform, and Dr. Dan Slanac, Global Chief Technology Officer of CovationBio, will present the innovation journey from food non-competitive biological materials to renewable resources, redefining possibilities to reduce carbon footprints at the Bioplastics Business Breakfast Days held in Conference Centre, Hall 1.
