SANY Heavy Truck Launches Electric Commercial Vehicles at IAA Transportation 2026
At the IAA Transportation 2026 fair in Hannover, SANY Heavy Truck, alongside its subsidiary Putzmeister, made a significant debut under the theme "Here to Stay". The company unveiled its new portfolio of battery-powered electric commercial vehicles that are ready for production and designed specifically for European transport operations.
The star of their exhibition was the SE636 battery electric heavy-duty truck, complemented by an electric delivery van and concrete mixers. This move showcases SANY's competence across various fields of commercial transportation.
Production-Ready Technology for European Markets
The SE636, based on a 4x2 chassis, features a 636 kWh battery system that offers a maximum range of 500 kilometers. With a gross weight of 10.9 metric tons, this vehicle has already received EU Whole Vehicle Type Approval (WVTA) and is currently operational in Germany, Turkey, and other European markets. According to SANY, this vehicle is the first mass-produced electric heavy-duty truck to have achieved EU WVTA certification from a Chinese manufacturer.
During their press conference on opening day, Kevin Eichele, head of product development and business for electric heavy trucks at SANY-Putzmeister, emphasized the company’s long-term strategic focus on Europe. He mentioned their aim to provide commercially viable vehicles validated through European certification and practical vehicle performance in real-world conditions.
Customer Experience Supported by Operational Data
SANY also set up a two-kilometer test track during the fair, allowing fleet operators, logistics clients, and industry media from Germany, the Netherlands, Poland, and other markets to experience the vehicles first-hand. Participants highlighted the smooth acceleration, energy recuperation performance, and low interior noise levels of the trucks.
Over 70,000 electric heavy-duty vehicles from SANY have been deployed globally. Since its localized operations commenced in Europe in 2022, SANY's electric commercial vehicles have entered 15 European markets and have collectively traveled over 20 million kilometers in real operational settings.
Local Support for Long-Term Fleet Operation
To ensure the long-term operability of its vehicles, SANY has established a comprehensive customer support framework across Europe. Partnering with reliable local service providers, the company offers customers access to about 650 workshops for routine maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs, along with continuous roadside assistance services. SANY's European service teams also provide specialized technical support for more complex servicing needs.
This launch at the IAA Transportation marks a broader step in SANY's long-term commitment to Europe, combining production-ready technologies, validated operational experiences, and localized support. As the demand for electrification in transportation continues to rise, SANY is poised to strengthen its presence in Europe and promote practical, scalable zero-emission solutions that contribute to a more efficient and sustainable future in commercial transportation.
