Visit Frederick Launches FY27 TRIPP Grant Program

Frederick, Maryland, is set for a tourism boost with the introduction of the Fiscal Year 27 (FY27) Tourism Reinvestment in Promotion and Product (TRIPP) Grant Program. Announced by Visit Frederick on January 15, 2026, this initiative marks another vital step in fostering tourism growth within Frederick County. The TRIPP program is designed to empower local organizations with funding for projects that enhance and promote tourism in the area.

With a total allocation of $500,000, this year’s TRIPP program is particularly focused on supporting advertising efforts and product development within the tourism sector. Eligible non-profit organizations and government agencies in Frederick County can apply for funding designed to drive visitor numbers, encourage longer stays, and enhance overall spending. Since its establishment in 2006, the TRIPP program has contributed nearly $5 million to local tourism and, with this year's funding, aims to raise that total to almost $5.5 million.

Funding Breakdown for FY27

The breakdown of the fiscal support is as follows:
  • - $288,000 designated for Tourism Advertising Awards
  • - $192,000 allocated for Tourism Development Grants
  • - $20,000 reserved for unforeseen grant opportunities throughout the fiscal year

Dave Ziedelis, Executive Director of Visit Frederick, expressed optimism about the funding. He stated, “This year's TRIPP funding marks another strong step forward for the program. It reflects a healthy tourism economy in Frederick County and the continued strength of our attractions, businesses, and events. Most importantly, it allows us to better support our nonprofit and government partners as they create experiences that bring visitors here and keep them coming back.”

Application Process

The TRIPP program is open to any Frederick County nonprofit organization or government agency whose projects align with the objectives of Visit Frederick. To assist prospective applicants in navigating the program, Visit Frederick will host two informative workshops:
  • - Thursday, February 12, 2026, from 1:00 to 2:00 PM
  • - Wednesday, February 25, 2026, from 10:00 to 11:00 AM

These workshops will provide insights into application timelines, eligibility requirements, and project expectations. Applications must be submitted through the online portal by Tuesday, March 31, 2026, at 5:00 PM, with funding awards expected to be announced in mid-May 2026.
