Innoviz Technologies Expands LiDAR Applications to Counter-UAS Enhancements

Innoviz Technologies Ltd., a prominent provider of high-performance, automotive-grade LiDAR sensors, is making significant strides in the defense sector. With the launch of its dedicated defense and homeland security brand, Perciz, Innoviz is reimagining the role of its proven automotive technology to tackle modern threats in the counter-Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) arena.

Recently, the company has forged six partnerships with leading Israeli defense and homeland security companies over the past few months to solidify its presence in this growing market. Industry giants like BMW, Volkswagen, Mobileye, and Daimler Truck have already recognized the capabilities of Innoviz’s LiDAR platform for automotive applications, and now, this technology is set to enhance defense solutions as well.

In early July, Innoviz announced key partnerships, including one with Givon Defense to improve precision localization for counter-UAS applications. Just days later, the company revealed that its LiDAR data was integrated into Cogniteam’s AI-driven counter-UAS classification system. The momentum continued with AeroNous Solutions, which incorporated Innoviz LiDAR into its command-and-control platform, enabling continuous and confident threat tracking. These collaborations illustrate a clear trend: Innoviz’s technology is being increasingly recognized for its capabilities in the defense space.

Earlier partnerships include collaboration with Kela Technologies, which integrated Innoviz's LiDAR into its comprehensive situational-awareness platform, working alongside a variety of surveillance modalities including radar and thermal systems for enhanced border security. Moreover, in June, Drive Group, a coalition of transport and infrastructure organizations in Israel, announced their plans to integrate Innoviz LiDAR into the “Barak LightGuard” perimeter security system. Additionally, Regulus utilized Innoviz LiDAR to address the challenging task of tracking low-altitude and fiber-optic-controlled drones, particularly in complex urban environments.

The launch of Perciz marks a pivotal expansion of Innoviz's initiatives, seeking to adapt and employ its existing sensor technology to the escalated demands of national security and defense. To further bolster these efforts, the company has appointed Maj. Gen. (Ret.) Yoav Har-Even, former President and CEO of Rafael Advanced Defense Systems, to its Board of Directors—a strategic move designed to enhance Innoviz’s capabilities in this new domain.

Omer Keilaf, the Founder and CEO of Innoviz Technologies, highlights the necessity of their technology in security applications: “We built this technology to ensure that a car does not mistake a person for an empty road. We aim to be the eyes of the defense ecosystem. This is proven sensing technology aimed at the most urgent security problem of our time, and we are thrilled to see these collaborations already translating into sales. We expect to see this momentum grow.”

As security challenges evolve rapidly—with autonomous systems, low-signature drones, and increasingly irregular tactics redefining operational landscapes—traditional detection mechanisms struggle to keep pace. Innoviz seeks to empower defense agencies with advanced solutions that enhance situational awareness and response capabilities. By capitalizing on its rich sensor data and high-performance technology, Innoviz aspires to help defense operators perceive, understand, and act within their environments with improved precision.
