Celebrate Earth Day with Angel Yeast Leading the Zero-Carbon Factory Revolution

Celebrating Earth Day with Angel Yeast

As Earth Day approaches, global attention turns once again to sustainable practices and commitments to a healthier planet. The 56th Earth Day in 2025 carries the resonant theme of "OUR POWER, OUR PLANET," encouraging individuals and organizations worldwide to actively engage in promoting renewable energy and achieving a more sustainable future. In this spirit, Angel Yeast, a leading entity in the production sector, has made a significant declaration reinforcing their commitment to sustainability through the acknowledgment of their new zero-carbon factory.

A Milestone Certification

On April 2, 2025, Angel Yeast's Dehong plant officially received the prestigious recognition as a "Class I Zero-Carbon Factory" with a three-star rating from the China Quality Certification Center. This milestone marks a crucial step towards realizing eco-friendly production practices and demonstrates the company’s dedication to generating low-carbon emissions and fostering sustainable development.

What Defines a Zero-Carbon Factory?

A zero-carbon factory is an advanced facility designed specifically to minimize greenhouse gas emissions through the integration of energy-saving technologies, renewable energy sources, and innovative CO2-negative practices. Angel Yeast's Dehong plant exemplifies this model by achieving a remarkable self-reduction and compensation rate of over 50% for all remaining emissions. This involved utilizing strategies such as solar energy production, biomass energy replacement, and thorough monitoring of the CO2 footprint.

Wu Xiaofeng, Assistant General Manager and Head of Production Management at Angel Yeast, highlighted that energy efficiency, emission reduction, and environmentally friendly practices are the core pillars of their growth strategy. This approach is not only about compliance but also innovating a comprehensive framework that encompasses product design and greenhouse gas reduction measures.

A Commitment to Clean Energy

In 2024, Angel Yeast focused its efforts on reshaping its energy structure, emphasizing the significance of clean energy. As a result of their initiatives, the factory achieved an astonishing reduction in CO2 emissions by 210,500 tons. Key to this accomplishment was the use of 129,673 megawatt-hours of renewable energy, which alone contributed to a decrement of 72,200 tons in CO2 emissions.

Moreover, the installation of photovoltaic systems and the shift from coal to biomass significantly bolstered these green initiatives. The factory generated 176.7 megawatt-hours from solar energy and purchased 122,800 tons of biomass steam, which directly contributed to an indirect reduction of CO2 emissions by 37,500 tons.

Angel Yeast has also taken pioneering steps in biomass substitution projects across various regions, using 33,600 tons of biomass fuels to cut down carbon emissions by an impressive 40,900 tons. These advancements in biogas recovery technology have allowed the factory to convert biogas into steam for the production process, yielding 28.26 million cubic meters of biogas and mitigating carbon emissions by an additional 59,900 tons.

Future Commitments and Collaborations

Looking ahead, Angel Yeast is enthusiastic about inviting global partners to join in their clean energy transformation and drive innovations in environmental sustainability. The company aims to continue constructing zero-carbon factories, advancing green technologies, and enhancing energy efficiency while persistently working to reduce emissions further.

In conclusion, as we commemorate Earth Day, it becomes evident that practices like those demonstrated by Angel Yeast set a benchmark for sustainable industrial production. They illustrate the power of innovation in manufacturing and serve as a call to action for other businesses to follow suit for a greener planet.
