Five Ace's Remarkable Achievement at the Yokosuka e-Sports Cup

The renowned e-Sports High School, located in Shibuya, Tokyo, is celebrating a significant achievement with its student team, Five Ace. Competing in the prestigious "7th Yokosuka e-Sports Cup," this talented group secured an impressive 3rd place against fierce competition from across Japan.

This e-sports event has become a staple for high school students, organized by the Yokosuka City Event Promotion Committee, in collaboration with the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, the Kanagawa Prefectural Board of Education, and the Yokosuka City Board of Education. This year's tournament welcomed teams from all over the country, showcasing the competitive nature of the high school e-sports scene.

The tournament featured the wildly popular game "VALORANT," known for its strategic team-play format. Teams competed in two categories: the "ROOKIE" division, with rank restrictions for newer players, and the "ELITE" division, which had no rank limits. Five Ace, having trained hard over the years, entered the "ELITE" division and faced off against 71 teams in the qualifying rounds.

After successfully advancing through the qualifiers, Five Ace made it to the final tournament held on August 18 at the Ichigo Yokosuka Port Market, where they skillfully battled their way to take home the 3rd place trophy.

The team members expressed their mixed feelings about their performance, sharing their thoughts on the competition. "We are quite upset with our performance, particularly in our confrontation against the opposing team’s character, Vise. We struggled to adapt effectively, and I can’t help but think we could have done better with a little more practice. However, it was a great experience to compete offline with this team!" Vise is a character in the game known for stopping opponents and setting traps that restrict their movements, adding an interesting layer to the competition.

At e-Sports High School, students are not only trained in popular games such as FPS, TPS, and MOBA, but they also receive comprehensive support and guidance from professionals in the industry. Over their three years of education, students focus on honing their gaming skills, while also developing various life skills through lectures and hands-on learning experiences. The aim is to cultivate versatile individuals capable of thriving both inside and outside the e-sports sector.
