BLUE ELEPHANT Expands with Significant Funding
The Korean eyewear brand, BLUE ELEPHANT, recently announced a substantial investment deal with Aphemera Capital Managers Korea. The brand will receive up to 1 trillion won (approximately $850 million) to accelerate its expansion in the Japanese market. The initial investment of 750 billion won will allow Aphemera Capital to acquire existing and new shares, with the potential for an additional 250 billion won investment within six months, giving them up to 25.8% ownership of BLUE ELEPHANT.
Founded in 2019, BLUE ELEPHANT has quickly gained recognition as a modern eyewear brand, integrating contemporary aesthetics into everyday life. Its products feature refined designs tailored to Asian anatomies, ensuring comfort and stability, along with affordability. The brand has attracted attention not only in South Korea but across Asia, with various celebrities endorsing its eyewear. As a part of its significant growth strategy, BLUE ELEPHANT has sought to position itself firmly within the global eyewear landscape, with plans to expand both in brick-and-mortar stores and the e-commerce space.
The investment values the brand at approximately 400 billion won, reflecting its impressive growth potential in the international eyewear market. BLUE ELEPHANT is set to officially enter the Japanese market in 2025, planning to open flagship stores in key areas, including Harajuku and Shinjuku.
In addition to its growth in Japan, BLUE ELEPHANT is also preparing to open its first American store in Beverly Hills, Los Angeles, by mid-August 2026. The brand plans to extend its presence in Europe with flagship stores in major cities, aiming for a consistent double-digit growth trajectory. For 2025, BLUE ELEPHANT estimates revenue to reach 50.7 billion won, representing a 69% increase from the previous year.
Through this new funding, the company anticipates fortifying its financial structure. The debt ratio, which was 307% at the end of 2025, is projected to drop below 60% after the investment, providing a stronger foundation for global expansion.
The capital raised will be crucial for their ongoing expansion efforts in Japan and other markets. Following Tokyo, BLUE ELEPHANT intends to establish additional stores in the Kansai region, covering cities like Osaka, Kyoto, and Kobe. This aggressive expansion aims to solidify the brand’s footprint in both American and European markets as they enhance their offline network.
Furthermore, BLUE ELEPHANT seeks to integrate the management expertise of Aphemera Capital into its organizational and operational frameworks, elevating their governance to a global standard conducive to competing in the international eyewear industry.
In summary, BLUE ELEPHANT's ambitious plans and substantial backing signal a transformative phase for the brand as it strives to establish itself as a leading global eyewear manufacturer. With modern designs and a focus on comfort, they aim to create eyewear that resonates with contemporary consumers across the globe.
