Binggrae Unveils Melona and Samanco at ANUGA 2025 in Cologne, Germany

Binggrae Showcases Melona and Samanco at ANUGA 2025

Binggrae, one of South Korea's leading food manufacturers, is gearing up for an exciting participation in the ANUGA 2025, celebrated as the world's largest food fair. Scheduled from October 4 to 8 in Cologne, Germany, this event marks a pivotal moment for the company as it seeks to expand its footprint in the European market.

Located at Hall 5.2, Booth C016, Binggrae will present its standout offerings including the Melona ice cream bar, a popular dessert that has garnered a strong fan base both locally and internationally. Notably, the company will introduce Samanco to European visitors for the first time—a delightful dessert shaped like a fish, composed of a crunchy waffle exterior filled with vanilla ice cream and accompanied by sweet red bean syrup. The inspiration for Samanco comes from a traditional Korean winter snack, making it a unique addition to their portfolio.

Founded in 1967, Binggrae has established itself as a household name in South Korea, famous for its innovative products like Banana Flavored Milk, the best-selling banana-flavored drink, and Yoplait, the first spoonable yogurt introduced in Korea through a collaboration with Sodima.

The ANUGA fair, recognized as one of the top three food exhibitions worldwide alongside SIAL Paris and FOODEX Japan, is expected to be the largest yet, featuring over 8,000 companies from more than 100 countries. This year, Korea has been designated as the official partner country, which highlights the growing recognition and appreciation of Korean cuisine in the global market. Binggrae will take part in the K-Food pavilion, further spotlighting the nation's culinary innovations.

Since accelerating its European expansion in 2023, Binggrae has primarily been exporting Melona to Germany, the UK, France, and the Netherlands. The brand has enjoyed remarkable sales growth, increasingly available in major Asian retail chains like Tang Frères in France, Go Asia in Germany, Amazing Oriental in the Netherlands, and Oseyo in the UK. Additionally, its products have begun appearing in prominent stores like Alber Hejin in the Netherlands, Netto in Germany, and Carrefour in Poland, with sales projections estimating a near fourfold increase in revenue from 2023 to 2024.

Binggrae’s participation at ANUGA 2025 is not only about showcasing their popular products but also serves to broaden their export channels. Their strategy includes introducing Samanco to the European consumer base and expanding their ice cream offerings to match local tastes with newly developed flavors. The company is committed to continuing its growth by expanding its distribution presence and product range across the region.

A representative from Binggrae articulated optimism about their participation at ANUGA, stating, "We anticipate that our presence at ANUGA will be a valuable opportunity to raise awareness of K-ice cream and enhance our export potentials in the European market." In this way, Binggrae is poised not just to display its beloved products, but to establish a deeper connection with European consumers, further cementing its role in the global food industry.
