Taiwan's Innovative Media Art Displayed at Major European Festivals This October
This October, Taiwan's Peppercorns Interactive Media Art, under the artistic direction of Chin-Hsiang Hu, will make waves at two significant new media art festivals in Europe: the Signal Festival in Prague, Czech Republic, and RADAR Festival in Bucharest, Romania. This marks an important milestone as Peppercorns becomes the first Taiwanese team to perform on the main stage of the Signal Festival, and is also making history as the first Asian media art collective to participate in the RADAR Festival, emphasizing the increasing global recognition of Taiwan's cultural contributions.
Signal Festival in Prague
Dates: October 16–19
Signal Festival represents Europe's largest light art event, drawing over one million visitors annually. Amidst a captivating array of light art, Peppercorns Interactive Media Art will present two major installations that promise to engage and enlighten audiences:

Between Mountains and Sea - A striking 10-meter transparent LED ring structure that illustrates the interplay of mountains, seas, memory, and time. This immersive installation invites visitors to explore within, activating both light and sound through their movements.

TZOLK'IN LIGHT - An evocative piece inspired by the ancient Mayan calendar, featuring a combination of water screen projection, lasers, and sound. This work transforms the Vltava River into a vibrant, luminous spectacle, providing a unique ritualistic experience that is sure to captivate all who attend.
This appearance highlights Taiwan's burgeoning status in the field of new media art, indicating a shift towards international recognition and appreciation of its artistic endeavors.
RADAR Festival in Bucharest

The RADAR Festival, Romania's leading new media art festival, focuses on interactive installations and generative AI works. It serves as a platform for showcasing immersive audiovisual experiences and is expected to gather crowds of enthusiasts from all over. Peppercorns will present:
- - Memory Encoder - An interactive installation powered by artificial intelligence, where audiences can upload their images. This innovative setup instantly transforms these images into generative visuals, which are then projected in an immersive space, creating a dynamic viewing experience. Since its debut at the 2024 Taoyuan Techno Art Festival, this installation has already received nearly 5,000 interactions, reflecting its popularity and engagement.
With an annual attendance exceeding 20,000, RADAR Festival will see Peppercorns' first foray into Eastern Europe’s vibrant new media art landscape.
