FOTON Unveils Its Complete Product Portfolio in Hannover, Paving the Way for Global Expansion
FOTON's Ambitious Showcase at IAA TRANSPORTATION 2026
On September 14, 2026, the IAA TRANSPORTATION event officially opened its doors in Hannover, where BAIC FOTON made headlines by showcasing its comprehensive product portfolio. The company marked the occasion with several global premieres, positioning itself as a pioneer in the international commercial vehicle market. This event also signifies a shift for FOTON from traditional export practices to an innovative international operation covering the entire value chain of its products.
FOTON is celebrating a remarkable milestone with the delivery of its 13 millionth vehicle, tested in Spain—the GALAXUS 9. This achievement highlights their growing influence in the European market for premium long-haul transport vehicles. With operations in over 140 countries, FOTON aims to ensure that by 2030, new energy vehicles will account for 50% of its revenue, while 40% will come from international markets. Europe remains a pivotal region for their global strategy, as evident in their motto, “In Europe, for Europe.” FOTON is focusing on localized products, ecological competencies, and strategic partnerships.
The company is at the forefront of developing battery electric, hybrid, and hydrogen fuel cell vehicles, which include heavy trucks, buses, light commercial vehicles, and pickups. By 2028, FOTON plans to establish a local ecosystem for new energy, including sales operations in nearly 20 European markets, more than 300 service locations, a German parts center, and local assembly facilities. Their subsidiary, BROCK, is also enhancing connectivity services.
One of the highlights of FOTON's presentation was the global debut of the CAVAN BEACON, a cutting-edge, CO₂-free heavy-duty truck designed for long-distance transport. This versatile platform supports 15 different configurations, including battery-electric vehicles, battery-swap variants, and those powered by gaseous and liquid hydrogen. Professionals in the field can appreciate the efficiency of its megawatt fast-charging capabilities, which allow for charging from 20% to 80% in just 18 minutes. With an impressive electric driving range of over 600 kilometers and a hydrogen driving range exceeding 1,000 kilometers, the CAVAN BEACON is engineered for success. It is equipped with an advanced driver assistance system (ICA/HWP) offering 22 features, and is ready for Level 4 automation, increasing operational efficiency with a 15% reduction in energy consumption and a powertrain rated at 115 kWh per 100 kilometers.
In addition to the CAVAN BEACON, FOTON displayed a total of seven vehicles, including the GALAXUS R9 PHEV, eGALAXUS D3, DAYSTAR, CAVAN C1, TUNLAND V9 PHEV, and eAURORA, along with six key components like batteries, electronic control systems, electric axles, and megawatt charging stations. The diverse lineup demonstrated FOTON's technological capabilities and adaptability across various markets and conditions.
As the commercial vehicle industry undergoes substantial transformation, BAIC FOTON is championing internationalization, new energy development, and intelligent advancement efforts. They aim to emerge as a world-class manufacturer in the commercial vehicle sector, prepared to meet evolving global demands while prioritizing sustainability and innovation.
Attendees at the event were left with a lasting impression of FOTON's commitment not only to technological advancement but also to a sustainable future in transportation. With their sights firmly set on global expansion, FOTON is poised to become a central player in the landscape of commercial vehicles for years to come.
