Understanding the Best Timing for Industrial Solar Power Adoption
In a recent comprehensive survey by
Kokusai Kogyo Co., Ltd., aimed at large corporations utilizing industrial solar power systems, key insights emerged regarding their implementation strategies. The survey sampled 111 officials responsible for solar energy projects across various companies, highlighting significant trends in decision-making processes and timelines for adopting solar energy systems.
Key Findings
1. Optimal Timing for Consideration
A substantial 52.8% of respondents indicated that the most favorable time for considering sales proposals from providers is during the budget planning season, typically occurring between November and January. This period coincides with the preparation for the next fiscal year’s budget, making it a prime time for companies to strategize their energy investments.
2. Challenges in Decision-Making
Conversely, the most challenging period for evaluating sales proposals was identified as the time for developing corporate policies and mid-term plans. This highlights the conflicts that arise when strategic planning phases overlap with the sales cycle of solar energy systems, complicating the decision-making process.
3. Influencing Factors for Decision Makers
A significant 54.1% of respondents found that demonstrating successful case studies and proven performance data from other companies was a persuasive factor in overcoming objections from board members. Additionally, detailed estimates of maintenance costs and operational expenses also contributed to alleviating concerns (50.5%).
