Rönesans Holding Partners with SJ Group for Industrial Development

Rönesans Holding and SJ Group Join Forces

Rönesans Holding has recently made headlines by announcing a strategic partnership with SJ Group, aimed at advancing the Eastern Mediterranean Petrochemical project, known as DAPEK. Located in Ceyhan, Adana, this ambitious initiative spans across 2,750 hectares, featuring two kilometers of coastline. It serves as a pivotal logistical and energy hub within Turkey’s energy and trade corridor.

Key Highlights of the DAPEK Project

The DAPEK project is set to revolutionize industrial operations in Turkey, with construction officially commencing in 2025. It will feature a world-class polypropylene production facility, supported by a comprehensive infrastructure that includes container and liquid bulk terminals, a solar power plant, and a green hydrogen production facility. This strategic alliance will leverage SJ Group's global best practices to ensure that DAPEK meets international standards of efficiency and sustainability.

Erman Ilıcak, the Emeritus President of Rönesans Holding, emphasized the importance of international partnerships in achieving sustainable growth. He stated, "We believe international collaborations are a key driver for sustainable growth. These partnerships combine a global perspective with robust local expertise, creating a powerful model for industrial development."

Collaborating on Development Strategies

As the administrative partner in this endeavor, SJ Group will play a crucial role in preparing strategic development plans, land usage planning, and integrating new manufacturers into industrial clusters. Their recognized expertise in industrial planning and investor relations—particularly their track record in Singapore's Jurong Island—will be instrumental in ensuring the success of the DAPEK initiative.

Rönesans is making a significant investment of $2 billion into the development of both a Propane Dehydrogenation (PDH) facility and a liquid bulk terminal. This project is anticipated to begin operations by the end of 2027, with expected annual contributions of approximately $300 million to Turkey’s current account balance.

Regional Development Model

Tan Wooi Leong, senior executive director for energy at SJ, remarked on the significance of this collaboration, stating, "Our partnership with Rönesans marks an important milestone for SJ as we strengthen our role as a leading global advisor in developing significant industrial and port clusters. This collaboration will help position DAPEK as a model for industrial development in the region."

The infrastructure investments at the Industrial Zone have been meticulously designed to align with the needs of global investors, focusing on high-capital investments geared towards export-oriented operations.
