Kokusai Kogyo Enterprises Launches Touch Sticker Ad Testing on Buses

Kokusai Kogyo Enterprises Launches New Advertising Media

Kokusai Kogyo Enterprises, based in Chuo-ku, Tokyo, has kicked off a unique test run for its latest bus interior advertising innovation named "Touch Sticker". Collaborating with advertising agency KM Ad System and Kokusai Kogyo Co., this initiative utilizes NFC (Near Field Communication) technology to create an engaging advertising experience for bus riders.

What is the Touch Sticker?

The "Touch Sticker" is essentially a sticker embedded with an NFC tag, which makes it possible for users to read data simply by bringing their smartphones close to the sticker. These stickers will be installed on the backs of bus seats, targeting riders as they sit down. This creative approach allows for instant access to URLs and campaign information, enhancing user interaction and engagement with the ads.

Unique Features of Touch Stickers

One of the key advantages of the Touch Sticker is its placement on the back of bus seats, maximizing visibility when passengers are seated. This positioning is expected to yield a high level of engagement, particularly among younger demographics. The stickers not only serve as advertisements but also allow for real-time updates and data analysis, making it a powerful marketing tool.

Additionally, the lower part of each sticker includes safety warnings to prevent accidents within the bus, balancing the dual roles of a public transport medium and an advertising platform.

Testing Details

The test period for the Touch Sticker runs from February 1st to February 28th, 2026. During this time, one bus from the Ikebukuro operating district will feature the Touch Stickers on six locations on the rear seatbacks. Each sticker will be sized at A5, with the advertising area measuring 98mm in height and 210mm in width, and the safety notification area being 50mm in height and 210mm in width.

Evaluation Parameters

The testing will assess several factors, including:
  • - The stability of the communication technology
  • - The effectiveness of advertising interaction
  • - The durability of the sticker, including its resistance to peeling and vandalism

Kokusai Kogyo Enterprises aims to commence full-scale sales of the Touch Sticker by 2026, pending the results of this initial test. By synthesizing interactive technology with practical applications in public transportation, Kokusai Kogyo is set to revolutionize how advertising operates within buses.
