CABC Welcomes Former Canadian Ambassador Kirsten Hillman to Advisory Board

The Canadian American Business Council (CABC) has proudly announced the joining of former Canadian Ambassador to the United States, Kirsten Hillman, to its Advisory Board. This appointment signifies a strategic enhancement of the CABC's efforts in promoting and strengthening the economic and diplomatic relationship between Canada and the U.S.

Ambassador Hillman comes with a rich background in diplomacy and international trade, having served as Ambassador from 2020 to 2026. She played a pivotal role in navigating the complexities of Canada-U.S. relations during her tenure, which included interactions with three U.S. administrations and two Canadian governments as well as managing the diplomatic impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic. Her involvement has positioned her as a leading advocate for effective bilateral relations, making her expertise invaluable to the CABC.

Beth Burke, CEO of the CABC, emphasized the significance of Hillman’s experience and relationships both in Washington and Canada. She remarked, "Ambassador Hillman has been an extraordinary leader and a tireless champion of the bilateral relationship. Her deep understanding of both countries, her relationships across Washington and Canada, and her unparalleled experience on trade and economic policy will be invaluable to CABC and our members. During her time in Washington, Ambassador Hillman established strong connections with influential leaders across the U.S. These relationships, along with her expertise in trade and economic affairs, are expected to significantly contribute to CABC's ongoing initiatives aimed at fostering robust economic ties between the neighboring nations.

Prior to her ambassadorial role, Hillman served as Canada’s Senior Legal Advisor to the World Trade Organization in Geneva and also played a crucial role in the negotiation of several key international environmental agreements. Currently, she is active as a strategic advisor for companies across Canada, the U.S., and Europe while holding a position as a Distinguished Fellow at the University of Toronto's Munk School of Global Affairs and Public Policy.
