Meijer Opens New Supercenter in Bainbridge Township
In an exciting development for shoppers in Northeast Ohio, Meijer has launched a new 159,000-square-foot supercenter located at 7300 Aurora Road, Bainbridge Township. This new store, which sits on the historic site of the former Geauga Lake amusement park, promises to offer an exceptional shopping experience characterized by value and convenience.
The Meijer supercenter is designed to cater to a broad range of shopping needs, featuring a fresh and diverse grocery selection along with a full array of general merchandise. Customers can expect to find everything from farm-fresh produce and a comprehensive deli department to national and Meijer-branded grocery products. Additionally, the store includes services such as a full-service pharmacy, baby and pet departments, apparel, beauty items, floral arrangements, and even garden centers.
Hank Meijer, Executive Chairman of Meijer, expressed his enthusiasm about the new store's opening, stating, "As a family company that's been serving Midwest customers for over 90 years, we are honored to continue offering value and convenience to the Northeast Ohio community." He highlighted the crucial role of value for customers today and emphasized Meijer’s commitment to providing quality at competitive prices in a convenient one-stop-shopping environment.
The supercenter is not just about traditional retail; it also embraces innovative technology aimed at enhancing the shopping experience. One such feature is the Shop & Scan option available through the Meijer mobile app, which allows customers to scan items as they shop, streamlining the checkout process. Additionally, the store participates in the Flashfood app, where customers can access discounts on surplus food, along with Meijer Home Delivery and Pickup services that add to the convenience. To reward loyal shoppers, the mPerks rewards program offers customers the opportunity to earn money back with every dollar spent.
Shoppers can also look forward to exclusive brands available at the new supercenter, particularly Frederik's by Meijer and True Goodness. Frederik's delivers high-quality products inspired by Fred Meijer, offering unique flavors and authentic choices. True Goodness emphasizes healthier options, with products free from over 100 harmful ingredients, making nutritious choices accessible for every shopper.
On the opening day, store director Drew Manning and his team greeted eager customers as the doors opened at 6 a.m., marking the occasion with a round of applause and a ceremonial ribbon-cutting event. In an act of goodwill, Meijer demonstrated its commitment to local communities by donating $30,000 to three local organizations: Kenston School District, Bainbridge Civic Club, and the Aurora Schools Foundation, with each receiving $10,000.
Rick Keyes, Meijer’s President and CEO, expressed gratitude to the Bainbridge community and pledged to be a supportive neighbor moving forward. He remarked, "Our new store team is grateful for the opportunity to serve Bainbridge Township, and they are already hard at work to do just that."
In line with its mission to give back, Meijer partners with local food banks and pantries in the fight against hunger. Since the launch of its Simply Give program in 2008, Meijer has contributed over $100 million to food pantry partners throughout the Midwest. This store's first Simply Give partner will be the Chagrin Falls Park Community Center.
Moreover, Meijer continues to prioritize accessibility. The new supercenter features upgraded changing tables for families in need, ensuring enhanced dignity and convenience for customers with disabilities and their caregivers. Additionally, the store provides free access to Aira, a service that offers live navigation assistance for blind and low-vision customers.
Having established its first store in Ohio back in 1981, Meijer now operates 59 stores statewide and employs over 14,000 team members across the state, including staff at its distribution and manufacturing facilities in Tipp City. The company's commitment to enhancing the shopping experience while giving back to the community makes it a beloved establishment in Ohio.
