Digital Hollywood Partners with Hokkaido Education Board for High School DX Acceleration

Digital Transformation Initiative in Hokkaido High Schools

Digital Hollywood Inc., headquartered in Chiyoda, Tokyo, has recently been entrusted by the Hokkaido Board of Education to accelerate the digital transformation (DX) initiatives within local high schools. This collaborative project, starting from August 2025, is set to enhance digital education and prepare students for career opportunities in a tech-driven world.

The project is aligned with an ongoing initiative that spans across all 47 prefectures in Japan, focusing on utilizing data science in high school curriculums. In Hokkaido, the program aims to strengthen instruction related to data science, enabling both teachers and students to engage in exploratory activities that leverage data analysis and verification.

DX High School Overview

The DX High School initiative strives to fundamentally enhance the education system, emphasizing information and mathematics as crucial disciplines. This program prioritizes the development of human resources capable of thriving in growing digital fields, through innovative curricula that integrate ICT across various subject areas. For the fiscal year 2025, a total of 1,191 high schools nationwide have been selected to participate in this transformative project.

Objectives of the Hokkaido Project

In Hokkaido, the project will target 34 public high schools, focusing on elevating data science education and cultivating talent skilled in data science applications. The initiative comprises four key components:
1. Collaborative Council Meetings: Two council meetings will be organized to facilitate the exchange of best practices among participating schools and to assess the progress of digital talent development across the region.
2. Teacher Training Workshops: To enhance educators' abilities to develop students' data use skills, workshops will be held for teachers selected for the DX High School initiative, covering fundamental knowledge and competencies related to data science.
3. Student Workshops: Three workshops will be conducted, focusing on data analysis using data science principles. Students will learn to scientifically analyze large data sets to derive useful insights and improve their logical thinking and problem-solving abilities through programming.
4. Case Study Compilation: The project will culminate in a publication of case studies documenting the program's achievements.

Details of Educational Offerings

Digital Hollywood will facilitate several educational offerings, including:
  • - Councils and Workshops: Targeted at teachers from selected high schools, these sessions will share valuable insights and challenges encountered during the program. Notable speakers and partner organizations will share success stories and innovative ideas.
  • - Training for Educators: Educators will receive practical training in data science and generative AI, aiming for a comprehensive understanding that can be applied in educational and real-world contexts.
  • - Student Engagement Programs: High school students will participate in a three-day program where they will learn methods to organize and visualize data, grasp the principles of AI and generative AI, and tackle social issues through data-informed suggestions.
  • - Monitoring Progress and Case Studies: Ongoing support, including surveys and online consultations, will ensure that the participating schools can effectively implement their action plans. The success stories gathered will be published in a comprehensive report at the year's end.

Further Initiatives by Digital Hollywood

Beyond this specific project, Digital Hollywood will offer e-learning programs on information sciences and programming languages like Python and JavaScript, catering to the educational needs of teachers eager to strengthen their digital skills.

In conclusion, the partnership between Digital Hollywood and the Hokkaido Board of Education embodies a significant step towards nurturing digital talent and preparing the next generation for a data-driven future. By integrating advanced data science education into high school curriculums, this initiative promises to enhance both teacher and student engagement in critical learning areas, ultimately contributing to a well-equipped workforce in the rapidly evolving digital landscape.
