B TRUNK Self-Storage Service Set to Launch at Big Echo Hiyoshi in 2026

New Horizons in Self-Storage: B TRUNK Launches at Big Echo Hiyoshi

Starting on July 17, 2026, B TRUNK, a self-storage service developed through a partnership between Daiichi Kosho Co. and Palma, will officially open its doors at Big Echo Hiyoshi in Yokohama, Kanagawa. This innovative service aims to redefine the self-storage experience by focusing not just on mere space but adding value to users’ lives through functional and reassuring storage solutions.

The backdrop to this launch is the thriving self-storage market in Japan, attributed to the increasing trend of compact living spaces and the diverse needs of different lifestyles, along with an uptick in storage demands from businesses. Over the past decade, this market has shown robust growth and is poised for further expansion. However, current offerings often lack the human oversight that many users prioritize for security and reliability, making it imperative for companies to offer enhanced services.

B TRUNK is built upon the concept of “Clean and Secure”, transforming traditional storage into a comprehensive living organization solution. Unlike many self-storage facilities that operate unattended, B TRUNK utilizes existing spaces within Big Echo locations to create staffed storage environments. This unique service model features employees on-site to provide an extra layer of security and reassurance, a critical aspect that differentiates it from conventional storage options.

The first location set to launch is the Big Echo Hiyoshi store, strategically situated in a residential area that hosts many families and students attending nearby universities. The expected demand for seasonal items, recreational gear, and transitional storage options is predicted to be high. The storage area has been refurbished from previously used warehousing space into five rooms, with the opening rooms ranging from 8.6 to 8.8 square meters (approximately 4.8 tatami mats) to accommodate a substantial volume of belongings conveniently under one roof.

This new self-storage facility will also have the capability to scale up its operations based on the success and usage patterns observed after its initial launch. As part of the company’s growth strategy, Daiichi Kosho aims to analyze the operational performance of this location and consider gradual expansion into other residential districts to broaden its service reach.

Through this venture, Daiichi Kosho seeks to harness synergies with its existing businesses to enhance its revenue streams.
